3.4 Operation modes of heating mode and hot
water handling
The operation modes are used to determine how your heat-
ing installation and DHW loading are controlled.
The operation modes for heating and hot water handling
are set to „Auto“ in the factory (¬ section 3.4.1 and 3.4.3).
In „Auto“ mode, the geoTHERM heat pumps with automatic
cooling function based on the optional external passive
cooling automatically switch between the operating states
„Heating“, „Stand-by“ and „Cooling“ depending on the out-
side temperature, taking into consideration time pro-
grammes (¬ section 3.3.4)
You can deactivate automatic control for each operating
function either permanently by changing the operation
mode or temporarily by means of manually adjustable func-
tions.
The heating engineer adjusted the heat pump to your
requirements during start-up. To do this, he set all operat-
ing parameters to certain values, in order to achieve opti-
mum heat pump operation. You can subsequently set and
adjust the heating mode and hot water handling of your
system as desired by means of the setting options
described below.
3.4.1 Heating mode
The controller provides the following operation modes for
the heating mode for each heating circuit (¬ section 4.9.1,
menu
2).
Auto
The operation of the heating circuit alternates between the
„Heating“ and „Energy sav“ operation modes in accordance
with an adjustable time programme.
Eco
The operation of the heating circuit alternates between the
„Heating“ and „Off“ operation modes in accordance with an
adjustable time programme. The heating circuit is switched
off during the set-back period provided the frost protection
function (depending on the outside temperature) is not ena-
bled.
Heating
The heating circuit is operated at the target room tempera-
ture independently of any presettable time programme.
Energy sav
The heating circuit is operated at the night set back temp.

Off
The heating circuit is off when the frost protection
function (dependent on the outside temperature) is
not enabled.
Factory setting: Auto
3.4.2 Cooling (if external passive cooling
is installed)
The controller provides the following operation modes for
the cooling for each heating circuit (¬ section 4.10.1, menu
3).
Auto: The operation of the heating circuit alternates
between the „Cooling“ and „Off“ operation modes in
accordance with an adjustable time programme.
Cooling: The heating circuit is regulated at the cooling
mode flow temperature, independently of any time
programme (can be set by the heating engineer).
Off: The heating circuit is off.
Factory setting: Auto
3.4.3 Hot water handling
The controller provides the following operation modes for
the hot water handling of the connected domestic hot water
cylinder and the optional circulation circuit
(¬ section 4.11.1, menu
4).
Auto
The DHW loading and circulation pump become active after
separately adjustable time programmes.
On
Continuous hot water reheating. The circulation pump runs
constantly.
Off
No DHW loading. The frost protection function is active.
