SYMPTOM:POSSIBLE CAUSE:
Starter will not engage. Selector lever is not in the park position.
PTO switch is engaged.
Neutral start switch is out of adjustment.
Dead battery.
Blown fuse in start circuit.
Faulty relay in start circuit.
Electrical problem in start circuit.
Engine cranks, but won’t start. Faulty fuel pump.
Insuf cient fuel level.
Fuel shut-off valve is turned off.
Plugged fuel lters.
Obstruction in the fuel line.
Poor engine compression.
Fuel shutoff solenoid not working.
Engine runs rough. Plugged or partially plugged fuel lters.
Plugged or partially plugged air lters.
Fuel cap vent is plugged or dirty (Serial # 1502-4275).
Stale fuel, dirty fuel, insuf cient fuel level.
Faulty fuel pump.
Dirty or faulty carburetor.
Engine is low in power. Plugged or partially plugged fuel lters (most common).
Plugged or partially plugged air lters.
Low cylinder compression.
Dirty or faulty carburetor.
Engine overheats. Debris in engine compartment or engine cooling ns.
Dirty oil cooler.
Oil light comes on when running. Low in oil.
Faulty oil sender.
Faulty oil pump.
Engine emits white exhaust smoke. Low engine temperature; Allow engine to warm up.
Engine emits black or gray exhaust smoke. Plugged air intake system.
Engine burning oil.
Dirty or faulty injectors.
Excessive fuel consumption. Plugged air intake system.
Carburetor not functioning properly.
Engine uses excessive oil. Check for leaks.
Incorrect engine oil.
Plugged air intake lter.
Worn rings or cylinder walls.
