Troubleshooting MX 800 Series Terminals

Display is Blank

If the terminal display is dark, touch the screen with the stylus or your finger. If in screen-saver mode, the screen will turn on when touched.

Display is Lit But Does Not Respond

Sections provide corrective steps when the display is lit but the unit does not respond to touch or commands.

Application Will Not Start

If the System Mode screen displays after power up instead of the application, refer to the MX 800 Family Reference Manual.

Check Internal Battery Status

Press DIAGNOSTICS icon, then Manual Diags button, then right arrow to second screen, then battery icon.

Check the Encryption Keys

Press SECURITY icon, then KEY STATUS icon, then right arrow to second diagnostics screen to check Master Key and DUKPT key status.

Communications Port Does Not Work

Check device power/function, cable condition, or try a different communications cable for port issues.

Transaction Fails to Process

Check magnetic card reader, smart card reader, and cable connections for issues preventing transaction processing.

No Response From the Stylus

Ensure terminal supports stylus. Unplug the stylus and connect a known working stylus if no response is detected.

Gap in Captured Signature

Ensure stylus contact with screen during signature capture. Contact VeriFone representative if the problem persists.

Detecting Excessive EMI Fields

Use Diagnostic mode to sense EMI fields. Moving terminal away from EMI field eliminates warning message.

VeriFone Service and Support

Return a Terminal for Service

Gather product ID, serial number, obtain MRA number, describe problem, provide shipping address, and MRA type for repair.
