About Fibre Transport Deduplication target mode
port verification
The Fibre Transport Deduplication feature enables you to use a appliance as a
target host for optimized duplication and Auto Image Replication. After you configure
a Fibre Channel (FC) HBA card on a target appliance, you can use the Settings
> FibreTransport Deduplication Show command to show the status of the Fibre
Transport Deduplication feature. If you have configured the feature properly, you
see the following output:
Testsys.Settings > FibreTransport Deduplication Show
[Info] Fibre Transport Deduplication is enabled.
You can also use the Manage > FibreChannel > Show command to verify and
confirm the status of the Fibre Transport Deduplication feature is configured and
working. You can verify the following from the output:
■ The qla2x00tgt, scst and scst_user drivers are loaded.
■ The Configuration Type column shows Target(MSDP) for the ports that you
have configured as target ports.
■ The Physical State column shows the Target mode for the ports with the
configuration type Target(MSDP).
■ Under the Status column, the target mode ports should have a status of Online.
Configuring direct backups from a NetBackup
52xx or 53xx appliance to a NetBackup 50xx
appliance using Fibre Channel
This topic describes how to configure a NetBackup 52xx or 53xx media server to
send all backups directly to a NetBackup 5020 or 5030 deduplication appliance.
The target and the initiator configuration for the appliances must be set as follows:
■ NetBackup 5020 or 5030
This appliance is set up as the disk pool (target). Any available target port on a
Fibre Channel HBA card can be used.
■ NetBackup 52xx or 53xx
This appliance is set up as the backup image source (initiator). Any available
initiator port on a Fibre Channel HBA card can be used.
