Summary

1. General Description

1.1 Charge current up to 50 A and PV voltage up to 100 V

Controller charges battery from PV array with higher voltage. Auto-adjusts to 12/24V nominal battery.

1.2 Ultra-fast Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT)

Improves energy harvest up to 30% vs PWM & 10% vs slower MPPT.

1.3 Advanced Maximum Power Point Detection in case of partial shading conditions

Locks to optimal MPP even with partial shading, unlike conventional MPPTs.

1.4 Outstanding conversion efficiency

No cooling fan, >98% efficiency. Full output up to 40°C.

1.5 Flexible charge algorithm

Eight preprogrammed algorithms selectable via rotary switch.

1.6 Extensive electronic protection

Includes over-temperature, PV short circuit & reverse polarity protection.

1.7 Internal temperature sensor

Compensates absorption & float charge voltages for temperature.

1.8 Automatic battery voltage recognition

Automatically adjusts to 12V or 24V nominal battery voltage.

1.9 Adaptive three step charging

Three-step charging process: Bulk - Absorption - Float.

1.10 Connectivity

Refer to section 3.8 for connection details.

1.11 Remote on-off

Remote control via VE.Direct cable using HIGH (ON) or LOW (OFF) input.

2. Safety instructions

General Safety Warnings

Read manual, use in proper environment, avoid gas/dust, ensure ventilation, use insulated tools.

3. Installation

3.1 General

Mount vertically, near battery but not above. Use 10mm² or AWG6 cables (max 5m).

3.2 PV configuration

Operates when PV voltage > Vbat+5V. Max open circuit PV voltage: 100V.

3.3 Cable connection sequence (see figure 1)

Connect battery first, then solar array.

3.4 More about automatic battery voltage recognition

System voltage stored in non-volatile memory. Auto-detects 12V/24V systems.

3.5 Configuration of the controller

Details of preprogrammed charge algorithms and battery type settings.

3.6 LED's

Explanation of LED indicators for regular operation and fault situations.

3.7 Battery charging information

Describes charging cycles and absorption times based on battery voltage.

3.7.1 Automatic equalization

Configuration of automatic equalization feature.

3.8 Connectivity

Customize parameters via VE.Direct to USB cable & computer. Download software.
