The rain and light sensor cannot always detect
precipitation accurately enough and switch on the
windscreen wiper conveniently.

If necessary, switch on the windscreen
wiper manually in good time, when the
water on the windscreen impairs visibility.

Heated windscreen washer nozzles
The heating system defrosts any frozen ejectors in
the warewashing machine. The heating power is
automatically regulated according to the ambient
temperature when the ignition is switched on. The
heating only defrosts the ejectors, but not the
hoses through which the washer fluid flows.
The automatic scan can be activated and
deactivated in the infotainment system in the
vehicle settings menu → p. 29.
When the automatic scanning is deactivated in the
infotainment system, the duration of the intervals
is set to fixed levels.
Adjusting the sensitivity of the rain and light sensor
The sensitivity of the rain and light sensor can be
adjusted manually using the knob on the
windscreen wiper lever → fig. 90
→ p. 98.
Heated window washer rest area
Depending on the equipment and at temperatures
from +4 °C (+39 °F) or lower, the wiper blades may
heat up when in the starting position . The function
switches on automatically as soon as the
defroster/defroster function or heated window is
switched on, or if the engine is started with the
start function.
The function switches off automatically when the
vehicle is moved or after the windscreen wipers
have been heated for a few minutes. The
function switches off automatically when the

When activated, the rain and light sensor
automatically controls the wiper intervals according
to the intensity of rainfall.
Activate and deactivate the rain and light sensor.

Problems and solutions
Level of washer fluid too low
The control lamp lights up yellow.
