Anodes, Check and Change
WARNING!
Risk of water entry. Close the seawater cocks before
doing any work on the seawater system.
1 Close the sea cock.
2 Open the drain tap (1) on the reverse gear oil cooler
and drain off the seawater.
3 Remove the zinc anode (2) in the reverse gear oil
cooler.
4 Check the zinc anode and replace if more than 1/3
of the original size has been used up. If not, clean
the zinc anode with emery cloth to remove the oxide
layer before re-installing.
IMPORTANT!
Use emery paper. Do not use a wire brush or
other steel tools when cleaning, as these may
damage the galvanic protection.
5 Install the zinc anode. Make sure that good metallic
contact is obtained between the anode and the
casting.
6 Close the drain tap (1).
7 Open the sea cock before starting the engine.
8 Check that no leakage occurs.
Impeller, Check and Change
WARNING!
Risk of water entry. Close the seawater cocks before
doing any work on the seawater system.
1 Close the seawater cock.
2 Remove the cover (1) and seal (2). Remove the
impeller (3) carefully.
Are there visible cracks or other defects the impeller
should be replaced.
3 Clean the inside of the housing. Lubricate the pump
housing and the inside of the cover with a water-
resistant grease that is not aggressive on rubber.
4 Install the impeller.
5 Fit the cover with a new seal.
6 Open the seawater cock.
Always carry a spare impeller and seal.
