Marine gasoline engine and power package limited warranty _________________________
What is warranted
Volvo Penta of the Americas, Inc. warrants that new, pleasure-use* marine gasoline power packages will be free from
defects in material or workmanship for a period of two years (one year for DPX 600). There are no hour limitations for
pleasure-use. This warranty is limited to complete power packages (engine, transom shield, sterndrive, Volvo Penta
branded marine transmissions, jet drives, jackshafts, and engine accessories) in pleasure use* as defined by Volvo Penta.
The warranty is limited to power packages of less than 550 crankshaft horsepower each.
Engine-only packages (new engines sold without transom shields, sterndrives, or transmissions) or power packages
550 HP or greater are warranted for a period of one year.
The warranty for engines and power packages under 350 crankshaft horsepower in commercial use are limited to six
months or 400 operational hours, whichever occurs first.
Engines and power packages over 350 crankshaft horsepower are not approved by Volvo Penta for commercial use.
The warranty commences on the date of delivery to the first retail purchaser or from the date put in to service as a
dealer demonstrator. During the warranty period, the warranty is fully transferable to subsequent owners. Volvo Penta
products are eligible for this warranty only if registered with Volvo Penta. Submission of the Warranty Registration
Card or other suitable proof of ownership is required for registration and is required to obtain warranty coverage.
Any part of the Volvo Penta engine or power package that is covered by this warranty and that is found in the
reasonable judgment of Volvo Penta to be defective in materials or workmanship will be repaired or replaced at Volvo
Penta's option. If a problem occurs, the owner must bring the product to an authorized Volvo Penta Service Dealer in
a timely manner. All repairs (except for those listed under What is Not Covered by the Warranty) will be made by the
authorized Volvo Penta Service Dealer at no charge during the warranty period. Repairs will be made within a
reasonable period of time during the dealer's normal business hours. Parts replacement will be made using genuine
new or remanufactured Volvo Penta parts. Volvo Penta's responsibility in respect to warranty claims is limited to
making the required repairs or replacements. All parts will be shipped via standard ground methods.
What is not covered by the warranty
• This warranty does not cover any Volvo Penta product that has been subject to misuse, neglect, accident; or that
has been improperly installed, operated, or maintained.
• This warranty does not apply to any damage that is the result of rust, corrosion, or prolonged or improper storage.
• This warranty does not cover any Volvo Penta product that has been used for racing or in preparation for racing;
has been altered or modified so as to adversely affect its operation, performance, or durability; or that has been
altered or modified to change its intended use.
• This warranty does not cover costs to modify fuel systems or gear ratios needed to meet local altitude
requirements or the changing of anodes when going between fresh and saltwater operation.
• This warranty does not extend to repairs made necessary by normal wear and tear, or by the use of parts,
accessories, lubricants, or fuels which, in the reasonable judgment of Volvo Penta, are either incompatible with
the Volvo Penta product or adversely affect its operation, performance, or durability.
• This warranty does not cover travel to or from the product by the servicing dealer or transportation of the product
to and from the servicing dealer; charges for towing, haul-out, launch, storage, fuel or lubricant usage; rental costs
of any type; and excessive time necessary to gain service access. This warranty does not cover other incidental
or consequential expenses including loss of use of the engine, drive train or boat, loss of income, or
inconvenience.
• This warranty does not cover repairs to non-Volvo Penta branded marine transmissions, jet drives, jackshafts,
and engine accessories.
• This warranty does not cover pre-delivery inspection labor and any parts expense.
• This warranty does not cover first service inspection labor and any parts expense.

Pleasure use” is defined by Volvo Penta as engines or power packages exclusively intended for pleasure craft application and used only for the
owner’s personal recreation.
