Turn eamshaft to position eorresponding to
T.D.C. for No . 1 cylinder
Turn pulley until cams abo\/'e No. 1 cyl inder point diago·
nally
upwards.
Measure valve clearanee
0.35- 0.40 mm (0.0138-0.0158 in).
Aemove adjusting shim

Turn tappets so that groo\/'es point away from camshaft.
Depress tappets
with press tool 5022.
Remo\/'e adjusting sh im with pliers 5026.

Calculate thlekness of adjusting shim requlred
Shims are available from 3.30-4.50 mm (0.130-0.1n in)
Ihickness at increments of 0.05 mm (0.002 in). AJways usa
new shims.
Measure
Ihicklless of tittOO shim with a micromeler.
Example:
Correct \/'al\/'e clearance ..
Measured clearance .....

Thickness of
