Cardiac pacemakers (applies only to digital cordless telephones):
Wireless Technology Research, LLC (WTR), an independent research entity, led a multidisciplinary
evaluation of the interference between portable wireless telephones and implanted cardiac pacemakers.
Supported by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, WTR recommends to physicians that:
Pacemaker patients
Should keep the wireless telephone at least six inches from the pacemaker.
Should NOT place wireless telephones directly over the pacemaker, such as in a breast pocket, when it
is turned ON.
Should use the wireless telephone at the ear opposite the pacemaker.
WTR’s evaluation did not identify any risk to bystanders with pacemakers from other persons using
wireless telephones.
Operating range
This wireless conference phone operates with the maximum power allowed by the Federal Communications
Commission (FCC). Even so, this wireless microphone unit and base unit can communicate over a certain
distance, which can vary with the locations of the base unit and wireless microphone unit, the weather, and
the layout of your office.
When the wireless microphone unit is out of range, the status indicator flashes red quickly on the wireless
microphone unit. The wireless microphone unit will sleep after out of range for 30 minutes. Therefore, you
should always return the wireless microphone unit to the charging cradle after use.
If there is an incoming call while the wireless microphone unit is out of range, the incoming call green light
may not flash on the wireless microphone unit, or if it flashes, the call may not connect well when you
press
on the base unit. Move the wireless microphone unit closer to the base unit, and then press
on the base unit to answer the call. If the wireless microphone unit moves out of range during a telephone
conversation, there may be interference. To improve reception, move closer to the base unit.
Energy-saving charging mode
When this mode is activated, all functions of the ErisStation Wireless Conference Phone, except wireless
microphone unit battery charging, will be disabled.
To activate the energy-saving charging mode:
Place all wireless microphone units (with batteries inserted) into the base unit to make sure they can
work normally with the base unit.
Unplug the power cable from the power outlet.
While you press and hold
on the base unit, plug the power cable back to the power outlet.
After about 20 seconds, when the base unit status indicators start flashing, release
and
then press it again within 1 second. After one minute, the base unit will enter the energy-saving
charging mode.
After about one minute, the base unit will enter the energy-saving charging mode. All wireless
microphone units are will be deregistered and the base unit status indicators will flash red.
If the base unit has failed to enter this mode, repeat Step 1 through Step 4 above.
Note: The base unit will be powered up as normal if you fail to press
within 1 second in Step 4.
To deactivate the energy-saving charging mode:
Unplug the power cable from the power outlet, and then plug it back in. The base unit is powered
up as normal. Insert batteries into your wireless microphone units (page 3). Register your wireless
microphone units back to the base unit. See page 27 for wireless microphone unit registration
instructions.
