72 Basic EX1200 DMM Operation
DMM MEASUREMENT BASICS
When making a measurement, the following sequence should be followed:
Select an Input Connector
Configure the Measurement
Configure Triggering
Take the Measurement
Retrieve the Data
These steps are discussed in detail in the following sections for IVI-COM.
SELECT AN INPUT CONNECTOR
There are two connections that can be used to take a measurement: the front panel banana jacks or
the DMM Bus. The banana jacks on the front panel allow connection to the DMM via the front
panel, while the DMM Bus allows for connection from either the DMM Bus rear panel connector
or from switch cars that have access to the EX1200 DMM bus via their backplane connectors.
Figure 4-2 shows how the EX1200 backplane switches between the DMM Bus and front panel.
Note that certain switch cards and instruments can connect to the DMM Bus as well.
