Overview

This document describes the installation and maintenance of a Warn Winch Mounting Kit, Part Number 92332, designed for the 2013 Polaris RZR 1000.

Function Description:

The Warn Winch Mounting Kit provides a secure and integrated platform for installing a winch onto a 2013 Polaris RZR 1000. It is specifically designed to accommodate 2500 - 3500 lb winches. The kit includes a winch mount bracket and a fairlead bracket, which together facilitate the proper positioning and attachment of the winch and its fairlead to the vehicle's frame. The fairlead guides the winch rope, ensuring smooth operation and preventing damage to the rope or the winch. The mounting system is engineered to withstand the forces exerted during winching operations, ensuring reliable performance.

Important Technical Specifications:

The kit is compatible with the 2013 Polaris RZR 1000 and is intended for 2500 - 3500 lb winches. The kit includes various fasteners with specific torque specifications to ensure secure installation:

  • Fastener Torque (lb-ft / N.m):
    • 1/4": 8 lb-ft (11 N.m)
    • 5/16": 17 lb-ft (23 N.m)
    • 3/8": 30 lb-ft (40 N.m)
    • 7/16": 48 lb-ft (66 N.m)
    • 1/2": 74 lb-ft (100 N.m)
    • 9/16": 106 lb-ft (144 N.m)
    • 5/8": 148 lb-ft (200 N.m)
    • 3/4": 269 lb-ft (364 N.m)
    • M4: 2 lb-ft (3 N.m)
    • M5: 4.5 lb-ft (6 N.m)
    • M6: 7.5 lb-ft (10 N.m)
    • M8: 18 lb-ft (25 N.m)
    • M10: 37 lb-ft (50 N.m)

Usage Features:

The installation process involves several steps:

  1. Fairlead Bracket Installation:
    • Remove the two upper 10mm screws and two lower Torx head screws holding the small grille plate, then remove the grille plate completely. Removing the full grille piece may ease installation.
    • Position the fairlead bracket and loosely secure it with two 12mm hex head bolts in the upper bracket holes and two 8mm bolts in the lower holes.
    • Tighten all fairlead bracket hardware to the specified torque.
    • Install the fairlead (from the winch kit) using the two center holes in the fairlead bracket.
  2. Winch Mount Bracket Installation:
    • Unplug the differential tube and push it aside to create room for the winch mount.
    • Carefully slide the winch mount bracket between the right A-arms (left facing front of vehicle) and rest it on top of the differential.
    • Install two 10mm carriage bolts through the winch mount's upper holes and the vehicle frame, hand tightening only at this stage.
    • Install two 10mm hex head bolts through the front (A-arm support) and the inner lower winch mounting plate holes.
    • Tighten all winch mount hardware to the specified torque.
    • Re-install the differential hose.
  3. Winch Installation:
    • Install the winch to the winch mounting bracket using hardware provided in the winch kit.
    • Feed the winch rope through the back of the fairlead and out the front.
    • Re-install the grille plate.
    • Install the hook (from the winch kit) to the winch rope.

Safety Precautions:

  • Always read and understand all safety precautions and operating instructions before installing or operating the product.
  • Use extreme caution when drilling to avoid puncturing fuel lines, brake lines, electrical wires, or other objects. Inspect the area to be drilled on both sides and relocate any objects that may be damaged.
  • Wear safety glasses during drilling to prevent eye injury from flying metal chips.
  • Exercise extreme caution when cutting and trimming during fitting.
  • Remove jewelry and wear eye protection.
  • Do not lean over the battery while making connections.
  • Never route electrical cables across sharp edges, through or near moving parts, or near hot parts.
  • Insulate and protect all exposed wiring and electrical terminals.
  • Install terminal boots as directed.
  • Use appropriate care when lifting components.
  • Ensure all components remain secure during installation and operation.
  • Tighten all nuts and bolts securely per instructions.
  • Never operate the product with damaged or missing parts.
  • Do not operate if under 16 years of age or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medications.

Maintenance Features:

Regular inspection and maintenance are crucial for the safe and reliable operation of the winch mounting kit and the winch itself.

  • Pre-Use Inspection: Before each use, inspect all parts on the winch, winch mount, and related hardware. Replace any hardware that appears rusted or deformed.
  • Fastener Check: Inspect all nuts and bolts on the winch, winch mount, and related hardware prior to each use. Tighten any loose nuts or bolts. Replace stripped, fractured, or bent bolts or nuts.
  • Cable Inspection: Check all cables prior to use. Replace any cables that look worn or frayed.
  • Moving Parts Check: Check all moving or rotating parts. Remove any debris that may inhibit the free movement of parts.
