Why does my Wen Lathe motor stall and not start?

  Your Wen Lathe motor might stall due to several reasons. It could be an excessive cut, in which case you should reduce the depth of the cut. The belt might be worn, damaged, or improperly adjusted, requiring adjustment or replacement. A worn spindle bearing could also be the culprit, necessitating replacement. Lastly, the motor might be protected from overload, so try resetting the circuit.

  Excessive vibration in your Wen Lathe can stem from several causes. The workpiece might be warped, out of round, have a major flaw, or was improperly prepared for turning; correct this by planing or sawing the workpiece, or discard it and restart. Worn spindle bearings or a worn drive belt could also cause vibration, requiring replacement. Additionally, ensure the lathe is on a flat surface.
