Overview

The WEN AF1270 Industrial-Strength Air Filtration System is designed to circulate and filter wood and other non-metallic dust, providing a cleaner and safer work environment. This system is engineered for dependability, ease of operation, and operator safety, offering years of rugged, trouble-free performance when properly cared for and used as intended.

Function Description

The air filtration system works by drawing in shop air, filtering out dust and small particles through a two-stage filtration process, and then releasing cleaner air back into the environment. It helps to reduce airborne contaminants that can damage the human respiratory system and create a healthier workspace. The unit can be operated via a control panel or a remote control, offering flexibility in managing its functions.

Usage Features

The WEN AF1270 offers several features to enhance its usability and performance:

  • Dual Control Options: The system can be turned on/off and its speed adjusted either directly from the control panel on the unit or remotely using the included remote control. This provides convenience, especially when the unit is ceiling-mounted.
  • Three Speed Settings: Users can select between low (LO), medium (MID), and high (HI) speeds to match the filtration needs of their workspace. LED lights on the control panel indicate the currently selected speed.
  • Programmable Timer: The remote control allows users to set a timer for 1, 2, or 4 hours, after which the unit will automatically shut off. This feature is useful for maintaining air quality even after work has concluded or for specific time-bound tasks. The timer can also be cleared, allowing the unit to run continuously until manually turned off.
  • Mounting Flexibility: The unit can be placed on a flat surface using its adhesive rubber feet (recommended if not ceiling-mounted) or mounted to the ceiling. For ceiling mounting, two methods are available:
    • Mounting Hangers (Eyebolts): These allow the unit to be hung from the ceiling using wood screws and chains (not included).
    • Mounting Brackets: These enable direct attachment to ceiling joists using wood screws (not included).
  • Optimal Placement Guidelines: For best airflow performance and safety, the unit should be mounted at least 7 feet above the floor and at least 3 feet (1 meter) away from any corners or heating, cooling, or air circulation vents. It must be anchored to building structures capable of holding at least 100 lbs, avoiding non-structural components like drywall or false ceiling grids.
  • Shipping Protection: The unit includes foam blocks around the motor for protection during shipping. These blocks must be removed before operation to prevent damage and ensure proper function. This involves removing the outer and inner air filters and unscrewing the inner grating to access the impeller area.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and efficient operation of the WEN AF1270:

  • Filter Replacement: The system utilizes two filters: a 1-micron inner filter (Model 3415AF1) and a 5-micron outer filter (Model 3415AF5). These filters should be checked periodically based on usage and shop environment and replaced when clogged. Clogged filters can reduce airflow and potentially overload the unit. Replacement filters are readily available.
  • Easy Filter Access: Filters are accessed by lifting the filter lock clips on the back of the unit, allowing for straightforward removal and installation. The airflow indicator label on the outer filter ensures correct orientation.
  • Fuse Replacement: In the event of a short circuit, the unit is protected by a fuse. If the fuse blows, it can be replaced by turning the fuse cap counterclockwise, pulling out the old fuse, inserting a new F8AL250V (8 amps, 6x30mm) fuse, and tightening the cap. If the fuse continues to blow on a different circuit, it indicates a potential internal problem requiring professional assistance.
  • Remote Battery Replacement: The remote control uses two AAA batteries, which can be easily replaced by opening the battery compartment.

The WEN AF1270 is designed to be a robust and user-friendly air filtration solution, emphasizing safety, performance, and ease of maintenance to provide a consistently clean working environment.
