Why is my Williams Furnace pilot lit but no gas to the main burner?
    • W
      whitney10Sep 5, 2025
If the pilot light is on but the main burner isn't igniting, first ensure the gas valve is turned to the 'ON' position and the thermostat is set to call for heat. A plugged burner orifice can also prevent gas flow, so check, clean, or replace it as needed. Inspect the thermostat wires for proper connection or breaks, and test the thermostat by jumping across the terminals on the valve. Also, the pilot generator may not be generating sufficient millivolts to open the valve, check the pilot flame and clean connections at the valve. If these steps don't resolve the issue, the valve itself may be defective and require replacement.

      Thomas RamirezSep 3, 2025

Why Williams 1403821 Furnace is not producing enough heat?
    • T
      Terry JuarezSep 2, 2025
If your Williams Furnace isn't producing enough heat, it might be too small for the space you're trying to heat, so check the heat calculations. Also, the furnace might not be burning at its full rate. Check for low gas pressure and inspect the burner orifice.

Why my Williams 1403821 operates but turns off before reaching room temperature?
    • A
      amyjohnsonAug 31, 2025
If your Williams Furnace operates but turns off before the room reaches the set temperature, the thermostat location could be the issue. Ensure it's not in the path of warm air from the furnace, near a lamp, or above a TV or stereo. Alternatively, the thermostat itself may be defective, so check its calibration or consider replacing it.

What to do if Williams 1403821 burner comes on then goes off?
    • B
      Bryan BrewerAug 29, 2025
If your Williams Furnace burner comes on but then shuts off for no apparent reason, check the vent tube and the air inlet tube to ensure they are properly installed according to the installation instructions. Make sure the joints are tight and both tubes are correctly in place, using only the provided tubes and not extending them beyond their original length. The furnace might also be overrated, so check for high pressure at the valve and consult the rating plate for the specified minimum/maximum supply pressure. Also, check the burner orifice.

How to fix a pilot outage problem in Williams Furnace?
    • G
      Gary ParkerAug 27, 2025
If you're experiencing pilot outages, first adjust the pilot flame, as it may be too low or blowing. Inspect the vent tube and air inlet tube. Ensure the pilot lighting door is closed properly. Also, the pilot orifice or aerating hole may be plugged; check for obstructions like spiders or webs. Additionally, check the control and pilot observation doors for broken or missing gaskets; clean and replace them if necessary.

Why Williams 1403821 pilot will not stay lit?
    • K
      Kelsey AndrewsAug 25, 2025
If the pilot light on your Williams Furnace won't stay lit after you've followed the lighting instructions, there are several potential causes. First, the generator may not be producing enough millivolts because the pilot flame isn't properly hitting the generator, or the generator isn't fully inserted. Also, ensure the pilot lighting door is tightly closed. The generator itself could be defective, or the connections at the gas valve might be loose or dirty. Another possibility is a grounded thermostat lead wire. Finally, the gas valve itself could be defective and require replacement after the other possibilities have been eliminated.
