What to do if there is no gas going to the main burner in my Williams Wall Furnace?
    • J
      James MartinSep 15, 2025
If there's no gas going to the main burner in your Williams Wall Furnace, ensure the gas valve knob is turned to the 'ON' position and the thermostat is set to call for heat. Check, clean, or replace components as needed. Also, check the connections at the valve terminals, and if the valve operates, check the thermostat wires. Refer to sections 1a and 1c for additional guidance. If these steps don't work, the gas valve may need to be replaced. Finally, check and reset the system.

Why Williams Furnace pilot will not stay lit?
    • H
      hbrownNov 20, 2025
The pilot light on your Williams Furnace might not stay lit due to several reasons: * The generator may not be producing enough millivolts. Ensure the pilot flame is directly hitting the generator. * The generator connections at the gas valve might be loose or dirty. Try cleaning and tightening these connections. * The generator itself could be defective. Use a millivolt meter to check the reading at the generator terminals with the valve in the 'Pilot' position. Disconnect the thermostat wires first. A reading of 450 millivolts or higher is needed. * A grounded thermostat wire could be the issue. Disconnect the thermostat wires from the valve terminals. If the pilot stays lit, trace the thermostat wiring for any grounds, such as contact with the furnace, gas supply, nails, or sta...

What to do if Williams 3509821 has no gas to the main burner?
    • V
      vshawNov 22, 2025
If there's no gas reaching the main burner of your Williams Furnace, consider the following: * Ensure the gas valve is turned to the 'ON' position after lighting the pilot. * Verify that the thermostat is set to a temperature that calls for heat. * The furnace orifice might be plugged. Inspect, clean, or replace it if necessary. * Check the thermostat wires for proper connections at the valve terminals. If the valve operates, inspect the thermostat wires themselves. A defective thermostat can also cause this issue. * The pilot generator might not be generating enough millivolts to open the valve. Refer to solutions 1a and 1c for troubleshooting the pilot. * The gas valve could be defective. Replace it after verifying the above steps. * The vent safety switch may have tripped...

Why Williams 3509821 Furnace main burner will not stay on?
    • A
      Alexandria HoDec 1, 2025
If the main burner on your Williams Furnace won't stay on, consider the following: * Check the vent pipe for any blockages like bird nests, twigs, or leaves. Also, ensure the vent cap is correctly installed and not placed too far down on the vent pipe. The cap should be from the same manufacturer as the vent. * The vent might be too short. It should extend at least 12 feet above the floor plate, with the top being at least 2 feet above any obstacle within a 10-foot radius, including the roof. * Restrictions in the vent system caused by offsets can be a problem. Type “B” vents should extend vertically with offsets not exceeding 45 degrees. Any angle greater than 45 degrees is considered horizontal. Offsets should be at least 2 feet above the draft hood or as far away as possible. Too...
