  If your prime mover won't stabilize at rated no-load speed, it could be due to the 2301A Speed Control needing adjustment. Adjust GAIN, RESET, and ACTUATOR COMPENSATION as described in "Adjust for Stable Operation" and "Dynamic Adjustment" in Chapter 3. Another potential cause is improper linkage adjustment. Make sure the actuator moves about 2/3 of its travel from no load to full load.

  There could be several reasons why the prime mover isn't starting. It could be due to reversed DC supply voltage polarity, insufficient supply voltage, or a generally low supply voltage. Ensure the supply voltage is within the limits specified on the control name tag and correct the polarity if necessary. Alternatively, the start fuel limit might be set too low; try turning the start fuel limit clockwise until the prime mover starts. Another possible cause is that terminals 11 and 12 are open, verify that terminals 11 and 12 are jumpered if optional external speed trim is not used.

In some cases, the engine itself might be malfunctioning, so verify that the fuel rack isn't binding and the linkage is properly adjusted.
