13. COMMISSION THE
APPLIANCE
See Figs. 3 0 and 31 .
1. Primary Installation : Before connect i ng t he appliance to
the primary sys tem it must be flushed through wi th clean
water .
2.
Gas Installation: tile whole of the gas installation including
the meter shall be in~>pected and tested f or soundness, and
purged in accordance w i
th the reco mmendations of BS
6891 .
3.
Check that the gas se rv i ce cock is o1f and the electr ic al
supply is off. turn the thermostat knob to maximum , do
not fit the inner cover.
4 . Open all radi ato r valves and fi ll the system ve nti ng as
necessary . Th e app l ia nce is fi tted w i th a manual a ir vent
on t he out l et of the black heat exchanger . See Fig. 40 .
Check for water soundness .
5. Drain
the heat i ng system and boile r comp l etely and r efi ll
the system venting as de tailed in In st ru ction 4.

selec tor sw itches to OFF. Swit ch the electrical supply off.
7 . Tes t the pil ot supp ly pi pe fo r gas sou ndness and adjus t
the pilot flame .

elect ricity supply .

prev i ously removed . Ti ghten th e sc r ews evenly and
s uffic ie nt ly to en su re there is no air l eal<:age arou nd the
bo il er inner cover.

co nnect a pressure gauge , See Fig. 30 .

f it ted, to maximum.

After a sh ort warm i ng up period t he gas pressure w ill
modu lilt e and the w at er tempe ratu re remain c onstant . To
ch eck th e mi n imu m gas pressure it may be necessary to
r educe the water flow at the tap if the water inlet
temperaturei slow . Th emi nimumgasp r essureisb e tween
3.0 and 3.5 m bar. 11 .2 and 1.4 in. w g.l.
NOTE: The hot water gas pressure ad j ust m ent is fac t ory
set, and, if after establishing the supply pressure it ~ s not
sufficient , Worc ester Heat S yste ms Service De pa rtmen t
should
be c ont ac ted .

rate.
(e) Turn o ff the hot wa ter tap . The pump wi ll con tinue r unn in9
unti l t he boH er has cooled to a pre-det erm ined
temperatu re. Any residual heat w ill be dissipated in the
ra di ator circuit.
