Why is the chain on my Worx Saw dry?
    • C
      Christina BoydAug 7, 2025
A dry chain on your Worx Saw can occur due to: * No oil in the reservoir. * A clogged vent in the oil filler cap. * A clogged oil passage. To address this, reassemble with the chain in the correct position.

How to fix a Worx WG368E that fails to operate?
    • K
      Kathleen JohnsonAug 11, 2025
If your Worx Chainsaw fails to operate, start by checking the battery. If it's out of battery, charge the battery pack. If the battery is not the issue, the fuse might be faulty, in that case, replace the fuse.

Why is my Worx WG368E chain bar overheating?
    • D
      Daniel IngramAug 15, 2025
Your Worx Chainsaw chain or chain bar might overheat if there is no oil in the reservoir, the vent in the oil filler cap is clogged, or the oil passage is clogged. Overheating can also occur if the chain is over tensioned or dull.

Why is my Worx WG368E chain/chain bar overheating?
    • C
      Christopher MercadoAug 19, 2025
If your Worx Chainsaw chain/chain bar overheats, several factors could be the cause. First, check if there is oil in the reservoir and refill if needed. If the reservoir is full, the vent in the oil filler cap might be clogged; clean the cap to resolve this. Another potential issue is a clogged oil passage, which can be fixed by cleaning the oil passage outlet. Additionally, check if the chain is over tensioned and adjust the locking knob accordingly. Finally, a dull chain can also cause overheating, so sharpen or replace the chain.

What to do if my Worx Chainsaw rips, vibrates, and does not saw properly?
    • J
      jonesmatthewAug 23, 2025
If your Worx Chainsaw rips, vibrates, or doesn't saw properly, it could be due to several reasons. Make sure the chain tension isn't too loose by adjusting the locking knob. A dull chain can also cause these issues, so sharpen or replace it. If the chain is worn out, replace it with a new one. Also, ensure that the chain teeth are facing in the correct direction; if not, reassemble the chain in the correct direction.

What to do if Worx Chainsaw operates intermittently?
    • J
      Julia EdwardsAug 31, 2025
If your Worx Chainsaw operates intermittently, it could be due to a loose connection, defective internal wiring, or a defective on/off switch. In any of these cases, it is best to contact a service agent for assistance.

Overview

The WORX WG368E and WG368E.9 are cordless chain saws designed for sawing trees, tree trunks, branches, wooden beams, and planks. They can be used for both cross-grain and with-grain cuts. These tools are not suitable for sawing mineral materials.

Function Description:

The chain saw operates on a 40V MAX lithium-ion battery, providing cordless convenience. It features an automatic oiler system that lubricates the chain during operation, enhancing chain life and cutting capacity. The chain tensioning is managed by a knob, which, when tightened, automatically sets the chain tension. A ratchet mechanism prevents the chain tension from loosening during use. The saw is equipped with a lock-off button to prevent unintentional starting, requiring the user to press it before fully engaging the on/off switch. Safety features include a hand guard and gripping teeth to secure the saw onto the wood during cuts. The guide bar and chain are designed for low kickback, reducing the risk of sudden reverse reactions.

Usage Features:

Before operation, it's crucial to ensure the battery pack is charged. The battery status LEDs indicate the charge level, with three green lights signifying a high charge, two lights a moderate charge, and one light a depleted charge. It is important to avoid operating the tool when the battery is overly discharged to prevent reducing its life and performance. The oil reservoir must be filled with chain oil before use, and the oil level window should be checked regularly during operation. Operating the saw without chain oil or with an empty tank can cause extensive damage. The automatic oiler's function can be verified by running the saw and observing an oil pattern on cardboard placed beneath the guide bar tip.

For safe operation, always hold the chain saw with both hands, maintaining a firm grip with thumbs and fingers wrapped around the handles. Proper footing and balance are essential, and the saw should only be operated from a fixed, secure, and level surface. Avoid overreaching or cutting above shoulder height to maintain control and prevent unintended tip contact. When starting a cut, the chain must be running at full speed before making contact with the wood. Apply light pressure and avoid excessive force to prevent overloading the motor. When cutting a limb under tension, extreme caution is advised due to the risk of spring back. For felling trees, ensure the work area is clear of people and animals, and plan an escape path. The notching undercut and felling back cut techniques are critical for safe tree felling, ensuring a hinge is left to control the tree's fall direction. Limbing involves removing branches from a fallen tree, starting with smaller limbs and cutting branches under tension from the bottom up. Bucking a log requires securing it with chocks or supports to prevent rolling and to avoid the chain touching the ground. Never attempt to cut two logs simultaneously, and always remove the battery pack before moving the saw.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is vital for the chain saw's safety and longevity. Before any adjustments or maintenance, ensure the tool is switched off and the battery is removed. Always wear protective gloves when handling the chain due to its sharp edges. Chain tension should be checked frequently, especially when the saw chain is new, and tightened if it becomes loose. The correct tension allows the chain to be raised approximately 3-6mm from the guide bar in the center, with the chain links remaining in the bar track. The chain should rotate freely without kinks. The guide bar rails, which carry the chain, should be cleaned every time the chain is removed or if they appear dirty. To maximize bar life, the guide bar should be turned over (top rail becoming bottom) every 5 hours of use to ensure even wear. Oil passages must be thoroughly cleaned. The guide bar should be replaced if the groove is worn, it's bent or cracked, or if excessive heating or burring occurs. The drive sprocket should be checked for wear or damage and replaced by an authorized service agent if necessary. The chain itself needs to be kept sharp. A dull chain will cut slower, require more force, produce sawdust instead of large chips, and cause undue wear on the sprocket, guide bar, and motor. Sharpening instructions should be followed carefully, and it's important to note that even with proper sharpening, the risk of kickback can increase. The sprocket tip should be lubricated using a grease gun, injecting grease into the lubrication hole until it appears at the outside edge of the sprocket tip. For cleaning, the molded plastic housing, cover plate, chain, and chain bar should be brushed clean with a soft brush and cloth. Avoid using water, solvents, or polishes. Ensure all debris, especially from motor cooling vents and oil outlet, is removed. For storage, the chain saw should be kept in a secure, dry place, out of reach of children. To prevent oil leakage during storage, ensure the machine is left in a horizontal position with the oil filler cap uppermost. If storing for an extended period, the oil tank should be completely emptied. Troubleshooting tips are provided for common issues such as the saw failing to operate, intermittent operation, dry chain, kickback brake malfunction, chain/chain bar overheating, and improper sawing. These tips suggest solutions like charging the battery, refilling oil, cleaning components, adjusting chain tension, or contacting a service agent for more complex faults. Never use tools with defective on/off switches or kickback brakes.
