Overview

The WORX WG305E is an electric chain saw designed for sawing trees, tree trunks, branches, wooden beams, and planks. It can make cuts with or across the grain but is not suitable for sawing mineral materials.

Function Description:

The chain saw operates by means of an electric motor, driving a chain around a guide bar to perform cutting. It features a lock-out button (3) and an on/off switch/trigger (2) for operation. The chain brake (7) is a safety mechanism that stops the chain immediately upon kickback. An oil level window (4) allows monitoring of the chain oil, which is essential for lubrication. The chain tensioning knob (11) facilitates easy adjustment of chain tension.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Type: WG305E (3- designation of machinery, representative of chain saw)
  • Voltage: 230-240V~50Hz
  • Power: 1100W
  • Bar length: 25cm
  • Chain speed: 8.5m/s
  • Oil tank capacity: 120ml
  • Chain pitch: 3/8"
  • Number of chain drive links: 40
  • Chain gauge: 0.050"
  • Saw Chain type: ES91VS
  • Bar type: ES100SDEA041
  • Weight (chain & bar included): 3.1kg
  • Protection class: Double insulated
  • A-weighted sound pressure (LpA): 86dB(A) (KPA=3dB(A))
  • A-weighted sound power (LWA): 99dB(A) (KWA=3dB(A))
  • Vibration emission value (ah): 5.5m/s² (Uncertainty K=1.5m/s²)

Usage Features:

  • Assembly: The chain saw must be fully assembled before connecting to the mains. This involves sliding the chain (10) onto the guide bar (9), ensuring correct running direction, and fitting the chain onto the drive sprocket (15). The bar tensioning plate (22) should face outwards. Gloves are recommended when handling the chain due to sharp edges.
  • Chain Tensioning: New saw chains will stretch, requiring frequent tension checks. The chain tensioning knob (11) is used to tighten the chain. Proper tension is achieved when the chain can be raised approximately half the drivelink depth from the guide bar in the center. A loose chain increases kickback risk and wear.
  • Lubrication: The chain saw is not pre-filled with oil and requires filling before use. Only recommended standard bar and chain oil (ISO VG32) should be used. The oil tank capacity is 120ml. The pump button/bulb (23) on the oil filler cap (5) should be pressed at least once before each cut to ensure proper chain lubrication. The machine should be left in a horizontal position when not in use to prevent leakage from breather channels.
  • Operation: To switch on, press the lock-out button (3) and then fully press and hold the on/off switch (2). Release the on/off switch to turn off. Always ensure firm footing and balance, gripping the saw with both hands (left hand on front handle (6), right hand on rear handle (1)). Do not overreach or cut above shoulder height. The saw should run at full speed before starting a cut. Light pressure should be applied, allowing the saw to do the work to avoid overloading the motor.
  • Cutting Techniques:
    • Felling a tree: Plan an escape path. Consider the tree's natural lean, branch location, and wind direction. Make a notching undercut (1/3 the tree diameter) and a felling back cut at least 50mm higher than the notching cut. Use wedges if needed to control the fall.
    • Limbing a tree: Remove branches from a fallen tree, leaving larger lower limbs for support. Cut branches under tension from the bottom up.
    • Bucking a log: Ensure firm footing. Support the log if possible. Cut from the top (overbuck) for logs supported along their entire length. For logs supported on one end, cut 1/3 the diameter from the underside (underbuck) first, then finish from the top. For logs supported on both ends, cut 1/3 from the top (overbuck) first, then finish from the underside.
  • Safety Devices: The saw is equipped with a low-kickback chain and a reduced kickback guide bar. Always maintain a firm grip, keep all safety items in place, and avoid tip contact with objects.

Maintenance Features:

  • General Maintenance: Unplug the chain saw from the power source before any maintenance. Inspect the saw before and after each use for damage, alignment, or binding. Keep the chain sharp, clean, and lubricated. Keep handles dry, clean, and free from oil and grease. Keep all screws and nuts tight.
  • Cord Inspection: Inspect the power cord and extension cords often for damage and replace if necessary.
  • Storage: Store the chain saw in a high, locked, dry place, out of children's reach, with the bar and chain storage cover (21) in place.
  • Bar Maintenance: Clean the bar rails every time the chain is removed. Use a wire brush or screwdriver to clear residue from the inner groove. Clean oil passages thoroughly. Replace the guide bar if worn, bent, cracked, or if excessive heating/burring occurs.
  • Chain Maintenance: Replace the chain when cutters are too worn to sharpen or when the chain stops. Ensure the chain teeth are facing the correct direction.
  • Sprocket Lubrication: Clean the bar and sprocket. Use a grease gun to inject grease into the lubrication hole until it appears at the outside edge of the sprocket tip. Rotate the sprocket and repeat the procedure for ungreased sections.
