Overview

The COOLIUS A50 / Y50 is an A/C service unit designed for the maintenance and servicing of air conditioning systems. This service book provides comprehensive information on the device's flow diagram, electric diagram, machine components, maintenance procedures, calibration, mainboard testing, and contact/support details. The unit is available in two main variants: A50 for R134a refrigerant and Y50/Y50A for R1234yf refrigerant, with specific parts and procedures tailored to each.

Function Description

The primary function of the COOLIUS A50 / Y50 is to perform various A/C service operations, including refrigerant recovery, vacuuming, leak testing, and recharging. It integrates several key components to achieve these tasks efficiently and safely. The unit features a compressor for refrigerant recovery, a vacuum pump for system evacuation, and a manifold with electric valves to control the flow of refrigerant and oils. Pressure transducers and weight scales ensure accurate measurement and control of refrigerant and oil quantities. The mainboard acts as the central control unit, managing all operations and displaying critical data.

The unit is equipped with service hoses for connecting to the vehicle's A/C system, and separate bottles for new oil (POE or PAG), UV tracer, and used oil. Safety features include high-pressure switches and safety valves to prevent overpressure. The device also supports optional accessories like a printer kit for service reports and extension kits for service hoses.

Important Technical Specifications

Refrigerant Types:

  • COOLIUS Y50 / Y50A: R1234yf

Vacuum Pump:

  • Type: 128L
  • Oil capacity: Approximately 350 ml

Compressor:

  • Type: 5/8 HP

Scales:

  • Refrigerant weight scale: 15KG or 60KG load cell options
  • Used oil weight scale: Minimum 50g sample weight for calibration

Pressure Transducer:

  • Electronic pressure transducer for accurate pressure measurement.

Electric Valves:

  • Multiple electric valve groups ("1A" and "1B") control various functions such as LP (Low Pressure), XP (High Pressure), RF (Refrigerant Flow), A1/A2/A3 (Aggregate Valves), EO (Used Oil Drain), EO2 (Nitrogen Discharge), UV (UV Tracer), HO (Hybrid Oil), NO (New Oil), and VP (Vacuum Pump).

Mainboard:

  • "A" (PWR) mainboard for power management and control.
  • "B" (Display) mainboard for user interface and data display.

Power Supply:

  • 230V, 50/60Hz

Fuses:

  • Main fuse: 10A T (6.3 x 32)
  • Control fuse: 0.5 A T (5 x 20)

Hoses:

  • 3m service hoses (HP and LP) specific to R134a or R1234yf.
  • Charge hose (A50 R134a) or 7/16 UNF O-ring charge hose (Y50/Y50A R1234yf).
  • Recovery hose with valve and add.check valve (A50 R134a) or 7/16 UNF O-ring recovery hose (Y50/Y50A R1234yf).

  • New oil bottle (250 ml, yellow pipe)
  • POE oil bottle (250 ml, green pipe)
  • UV tracer bottle (100 ml)
  • Used oil sealed bottle (250 ml)

Usage Features

The COOLIUS A50 / Y50 is designed for user-friendly operation with a clear display and control knob (COOLIUS SELECT). The unit's interface allows technicians to navigate through various service functions, calibration procedures, and diagnostic tests.

Calibration:

  • Refrigerant Weight Scale: Involves unloading the scale (moving the transport lock to "safety position"), then loading it with a known sample weight (minimum 2 kg, suggested 5 kg) in the "working position" to set the sample weight value.
  • Used Oil Weight Scale: Similar to the refrigerant scale, it requires unloading the used oil bottle, then placing a known sample weight (minimum 50 g) on the scale bracket for calibration.
  • Pressure Transducer: Requires the quick coupler to be assembled on service hoses and gauges showing zero pressure. The process involves starting the calibration, a short vacuum phase, removing the LP service connector, and setting the atmospheric pressure value.

Mainboard Test:

  • Allows for analysis of displayed values (controlled output, refrigerant scale ADC points and net value, used oil scale ADC points and net value, pressure transmitter ADC points and absolute pressure, and CPU board temperature).
  • Includes an output test to activate various devices connected to the mainboard (compressor, vacuum pump, electric valves for oil, refrigerant, and nitrogen). This test requires both quick couplers to be installed and pressure to be below 1100 mb for certain activations to prevent refrigerant release.

Passwords:

  • Service Passwords: For flash memory reset (219829) and machine registration (885479).
  • Service Report Passwords: For downloading and deleting service reports (014857, 399154, 200200).
  • Operator Code (OPC) Managing Password: For managing operator codes (585707).

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the optimal performance and longevity of the COOLIUS A50 / Y50. The service book outlines specific procedures for filter and vacuum pump oil replacement, along with a counter reset function.

Filter and Vacuum Pump Oil Replacement:

  • Filter Replacement:
    1. Perform a recovery process to reduce pressure in the internal circuit.
    2. Disconnect the power plug.
    3. Use a 38 mm wrench to unscrew the filter.
    4. Dispose of the old filter according to local regulations.
    5. Lubricate and correctly place new O-rings.
    6. Assemble the new filter.
  • Vacuum Pump Oil Replacement:
    1. Remove the front cover (4x large head Phillips screws).
    2. Unscrew the oil discharge screw and wait for the oil to drain.
    3. Refit the discharge screw.
    4. Dispose of used oil according to local regulations.
    5. Unscrew the muffler.
    6. Fill with new oil until the level is around half sight glass (approx. 350 ml).
    7. Refit the muffler.
    8. Reassemble the front cover.

Counter Reset:

  • This function requires an UNLOCK CODE, which can be obtained from www.coolius-ac.com or by calling the hotline (+497940981888188).
  • The procedure involves entering the UNLOCK CODE using the COOLIUS SELECT knob, confirming with START, and then confirming the reset with the X (CANCEL) key twice. This reset should only be performed after changing the filter and vacuum pump oil.

Safety Precautions:

  • Always wear goggles and gloves when handling refrigerants to prevent blindness and other physical injuries.
  • Always disconnect the power plug before performing maintenance tasks.
  • Use only genuine spare parts or their equivalent; non-genuine parts can damage the machine.

The COOLIUS A50 / Y50 is a robust and sophisticated A/C service unit, designed to provide accurate and reliable service for automotive air conditioning systems, with detailed instructions for operation, calibration, and maintenance to ensure its long-term performance.
