Chapter 4: Understanding the User Interface 20 of 30
SECTION A: DATE AND TIME
The user can update this information to setup NTP Server and
match time zones a by clicking the Change button.
NTP (NETWORK TIME PROTOCOL) SETUP
NTP allows clock synchronization between computer systems
over packet-switched, variable-latency data networks. This is
done from the :8080 Configuration web page, in the Time panel.
1. Click “Change” to open the Time panel. Enter NTP server
address: This is user defined NTP server address for the
company that is on the same network as the View-R.
2. Check the “NTP Enable” box at the top and enter server
address. Click “Submit” to save changes and enable.
The arrangement for the date and time must match the shown
format.
NOTE: Timezone and time are changed separately. First change
the timezone and then set the correct time.
IN ORDER FOR A DEVICE TO SYNCHRONIZE WITH AN NTP SERVER,
THE TIME DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE NTP SERVER AND THE VIEW-R'S
CURRENT TIME MUST BE LESS THAN 1000 SECONDS (ABOUT 16
MINUTES).
THE USER MAY NEED TO FIRST MANUALLY EDIT THE VIEW-R’S TIME
BEFORE ATTEMPTING NTP SYNC.
