This document is an instruction and maintenance manual for the Würth Tyre Changer Pro Runflat, Art. No. 9501006290. This automatic tyre changer is specifically designed for demounting and mounting tyres from wheel rims, including runflat tyres.
Function Description:
The Würth Tyre Changer Pro Runflat is an automatic machine designed for the efficient and safe changing of vehicle tyres. Its primary function is to facilitate the process of breaking the tyre bead, demounting the tyre from the rim, and mounting a new tyre onto the rim. The machine is equipped with various components to perform these tasks, including a turntable for rotating the wheel, a bead breaker for separating the tyre from the rim, and mounting/demounting heads for manipulating the tyre. It also features a help arm (S002) to assist with demounting and mounting difficult tyres, particularly runflat types. The machine operates using both electrical power and pneumatic connections, ensuring robust and controlled movements during operation.
Important Technical Specifications:
The technical data for the tyre changer includes:
- External locking rim dimensions: 12-26 inches (with jaw protector for 12 inches)
- Internal locking rim dimensions: 14-28 inches
- Max. Wheel diameter: 1143mm (45 inches)
- Max. Wheel width: 406mm (16 inches)
- Working Pressure: 8-10 bar
- Power supply: 110V (1ph)/ 220V (1ph)/ 380V (3ph)
- Optional Motor power: 0.37kW

For the help arm S002, the technical data includes:
- Work Pressure: 8-10 bar
- Weight: 80kg
- Package dimension: 1230450350mm
- Noise Level: LpA<75dB
Rim dimensions defined in the table above are based on iron wheel rims. Aluminum rims are thicker than iron wheel rims, so the above rim dimensions are just for reference. The machine versions equipped with Rapid Tire Inflation Device (client optional device) or IT-suffix version may have different accessory details.
Usage Features:
The machine's operation involves several key steps and features:
- Breaking the tyre bead: This is typically the first step. The tyre is placed on the machine, and the bead breaker pedal (U) is used to push the tyre bead down and away from the rim. The manual emphasizes ensuring the tyre is completely deflated and that the rubber buffer is placed against the rim to prevent damage.
- Demounting the tyre: After bead breaking, the wheel is clamped onto the turntable. The mounting head is positioned, and the turntable is rotated to demount the tyre. The manual describes methods for demounting the upper and lower beads, often involving the use of a lifting lever and the tyre pressing head. For difficult tyres, the help arm S002 can be engaged to assist in manipulating the tyre, making the process easier and safer.
- Mounting the tyre: This process is the reverse of demounting. The new tyre is lubricated and then mounted onto the rim, again using the turntable and mounting head. The help arm can also be used during mounting to hold the tyre bead in place.
- Pedal controls: The machine is operated via foot pedals:
- Titling pedal (H): Controls the tilting column.
- Turntable Rotation pedal (Z): Controls the rotation of the turntable (clockwise and counter-clockwise).
- Jaws open and close pedal (V): Controls the clamping jaws to secure the wheel.
- Bead Breaker pedal (U): Activates the bead breaker shovel.
- Safety features: The manual highlights several safety warnings, such as not putting hands under the mounting head/demounting head or bead breaker shovel during operation, not putting hands in the tyre bead when demounting, and ensuring the machine is equipped with a good grounding circuit. It also warns against operating the machine without security warning labels.
- Help Arm S002: This auxiliary device is crucial for demounting and mounting difficult tyres. It helps to hold the tyre bead in place, reducing the physical effort required by the operator and preventing damage to the tyre or rim.
- Trial operation: Before full operation, a trial run is recommended to ensure all components function correctly and that the air pressure from the 8 bars to 10 bars is desirable.
Maintenance Features:
Regular maintenance is essential for the longevity and safe operation of the tyre changer:
- Daily cleaning: The machine should be cleaned once every day after work. This includes cleaning dirt on the turntable with diesel oil, lubricating the slides and clamps.
- Monthly maintenance: Lubrication should be done at least once per month.
- Oil fog maker: The oil level in the oil fog maker should be checked and filled with SAE30# oil if needed. The manual specifies unscrewing the hex wrench (E) on the oil fog maker, pressing the jaws open or closing the pedal, and checking for oil drops. If no oil drops, more oil should be added.
- Drain valve: The drain valve (D) of the oil fog maker should be opened every twice a day to drain water.
- Air source maintenance: The air filter and relief valve should be regularly checked.
- Jaw maintenance: After the first 20 days of use, the tightening screws (B) on the turntable should be retightened. If the belt is loose, it should be checked and tightened.
- Vertical Arm maintenance: If the vertical arm cannot be locked or does not meet the requirement that 2-3mm from the bottom of the mounting head/demounting head to the rim, the hexagonal locking plate should be adjusted.
- Bead Breaker shovel maintenance: To achieve reliability, the jaws and bead breaker shovel should be lubricated, and the two screws covering the left side of the mufflers should be removed. The mufflers (A) should be cleaned, and if damaged, the spare parts should be replaced.
- Troubleshooting: The manual includes a troubleshooting table to help identify and resolve common issues, such as the turntable not rotating, clamping jaws not opening/closing, the mounting head touching the rim, or the bead breaker pedal not returning to its original position. Solutions range from replacing broken switches or pistons to checking air network leakage, adjusting components, or cleaning jammed parts.
The manual emphasizes that only trained professional personnel should perform installation, maintenance, and repair to ensure safety and proper functioning of the machine. Any changes beyond the scope of the manual without manufacturer's permission may cause malfunction and damage, voiding the warranty.
