C The Commissioning Process
The commissioning process is a step by step process designed to systematically check and validate all
operational aspects of the VESDA system. The process benchmarks the performance levels tailored for each
site and generates necessary documentation for the effective management and maintenance of the system.
The steps required in a typical commissioning process are listed below.

Commissioning Step Action
1. Pre-Commissioning (Before going to the
customer site)
Gather site information
Obtain a copy of:
l Microbore network design records
l Microbore network installation form
l Site plans and microbore layout plans
Start to fill in:
l Commissioning forms
l Any regulatory forms required
2. Pre-Commissioning (Once you are on site) Check cables
Power up system
Preliminary system check
3. Configuration & Thresholds Configure the system
Set thresholds
Record in commissioning form:
l Settings
l Microbore network specifications
4. Test the System Smoke test
Relay function
Devices
Record results on commissioning forms
5. Hand Over Complete commissioning forms and
attachments
Forward copies along with attachments to all
relevant persons
