If the starter on your Yamaha Outboard Motor isn't working, begin by checking the battery's condition and ensuring it has the recommended capacity. Weak or low battery capacity can prevent the starter from operating. Also, verify that the battery connections are tight and free from corrosion; tighten the cables and clean the terminals if necessary. Check the fuse for the electric start circuit and replace it with one of the correct amperage if it's blown, after checking for the cause of the electric overload. Ensure the shift lever is in neutral. If these steps don't resolve the issue, the starter components may be faulty and require servicing by a Yamaha dealer.

Several factors could be preventing your Yamaha Outboard Motor from starting. It could be due to an empty, contaminated, or stale fuel tank; try filling it with clean, fresh fuel. The fuel filter might be clogged, requiring cleaning or replacement. Inspect the spark plugs; they may be fouled or of the wrong type and need cleaning or replacing with the recommended type. Also, make sure the spark plug caps are correctly fitted and that the engine stop switch lanyard is attached. Poor connections or damaged ignition wiring can also be a cause; check wires for wear or breaks, tighten all loose connections, and replace worn or broken wires. If these steps don't resolve the issue, the fuel pump or ignition parts may be faulty, or the engine's inner parts may be damaged, requiring service by a Ya...
