What to do if my Yamaha RX-V800RDS fails to turn on?
    • I
      Ian MosleyAug 20, 2025
First, ensure the power cord is firmly connected to both the receiver and the outlet. Next, check that the IMPEDANCE SELECTOR switch on the rear panel is fully set to either the left or right position while the unit is in standby mode. Finally, verify that all speaker wire connections are secure and that no wires are touching anything other than their respective connections, as the protection circuitry may have been activated.

How to fix Yamaha RX-V800RDS when sound suddenly goes off?
    • M
      Maurice GilmoreAug 25, 2025
This could be due to several reasons. First, the protection circuit might have been activated because of a short circuit. Check that the IMPEDANCE SELECTOR switch is set to the appropriate position and then turn the unit back on. It's also possible that the sleep timer has been activated; if so, turn the power back on and play the source again. Finally, check if the sound is muted. If it is, press MUTE or any operation buttons of this unit to cancel a mute and adjust the volume.

What to do if my Yamaha RX-V800RDS has FM stereo reception noisy?
    • J
      James WilliamsAug 27, 2025
Noisy FM stereo reception can occur if the transmitter is too far away or the antenna input is poor. Check the antenna connections, and consider using a high-quality directional FM antenna. You might also want to try using the manual tuning method.

How to fix Yamaha RX-V800RDS when only one speaker side can be heard?
    • K
      Kayla CurtisAug 28, 2025
First, verify that all cable connections are correct and secure. If the problem continues, the cables themselves may be defective. Also, check the “3 L/R BALANCE” setting in the SET MENU and adjust it to the appropriate position.

How to fix Yamaha Receiver if there is no sound from effect speakers?
    • N
      nicole79Aug 30, 2025
First, make sure the sound effect is turned on by pressing EFFECT. If you are using a Dolby Surround, Dolby Digital, or DTS decoding DSP program, ensure that the material being played is encoded with Dolby Surround, Dolby Digital, or DTS. If a 96-kHz sampling digital signal is being input, there is no suggested solution.

Why is there no sound from the center speaker of my Yamaha Receiver?
    • A
      Amy LaneSep 1, 2025
There could be several reasons for this. First, check if the output level of the center speaker is set to minimum and raise it if necessary. Next, verify that “1A CENTER SP” on the SET MENU is not set to NONE, and select the appropriate mode for your center speaker. Also, if one of the Hi-Fi DSP programs (1 to 5) has been selected, try selecting another DSP program. Finally, the source encoded with a Dolby Digital or DTS signal may not have a center channel signal.

Why is there no sound from the rear speakers of my Yamaha Receiver?
    • B
      Benjamin HuangSep 3, 2025
Check that the output level of the rear speakers is not set to minimum. If it is, raise the output level. Also, if you are playing a monaural source with program 10, select another DSP program.

Why is there no sound from the subwoofer of my Yamaha RX-V800RDS Receiver?
    • D
      Darlene SullivanSep 5, 2025
If you are playing a Dolby Digital or DTS signal, check that “1D LFE/BASS OUT” on the SET MENU is set to SWFR or BOTH. If you are playing a 2-channel source, ensure that “1D LFE/BASS OUT” on the SET MENU is set to BOTH. The source may also not contain low bass signals (90 Hz and below).

    michellefranklinSep 6, 2025
Why is the bass reproduction poor on my Yamaha RX-V800RDS Receiver?
    • K
      Kathleen GrantSep 7, 2025
If “1D LFE/BASS OUT” on the SET MENU is set to SWFR or BOTH and your system does not include a subwoofer, select MAIN. Also, ensure that the output mode for each speaker (main, center, or rear) on the SET MENU matches your speaker configuration, selecting the appropriate output mode based on the size of the speakers.
