ing plate or 10 the engine block. Sealer or
corrodedmating surfaces will prevent

optimum anode protection.
2. Unscrew the mounting plate (Figure 18) and remove
the sacrificial anode ( F i ~ u r e 21).
3. Usc a wire brush and remove corrosion on the anode.
Clean the mounting plate and mounting surface on the en-
gine block.
4. Inspccr rhe anode and
compare it with the dimensions
ora new anode shown in Ftgure 22. Replace the anode if
dimensions are less than 50 percent of original size.
5. Install a new gasket on the anode (Figure 23).
I. Drain the cooling system.
2. Unscrew the sacrificial anodes in the cylinder head
( Fig ure 19) and cylinder block (Fi l:, ure 20).
3. Use a wire brush to remove corrosion from the anode.
Clean the threads on the anode and in the engine.
4. Inspect the anode and compare it with the dimension.s
ofa new anode sho ..... -n in Fi2ure 22. Replace the anode if
dimensions are less than 50 percent of original size .
5. Install a new gasket on the anode (Figure 23).

NOTE
Do not apply any seater to threads on the
anode or in the eng ine. Sealer or corroded
threads will prevent good electrical contact.
