Operating the Ice Resurfacer
Excessive Loads
Taking too deep a cut with the shaving blade while driving the machine at it's full ground
speed may place an excessive load on the tractor. The engine RPM is maintained with only
a small RPM drop while resurfacing normally. With an excessive machine load, the engine
RPM may drop excessively which will cause the operation of the resurfacer to suffer. If the
engine RPM is dropping excessively, reduce the load of the tractor by:
Slowing the ground speed of the machine.
Reducing the depth of cut.
Servicing The Conveyor Chain
Paddles should touch the ice surface approximately 10 inches (25cm) in
from each end.
The chains must be loose enough for the conveyor to move freely. It is
therefore necessary that the chain have a slight amount of slack in it while
in operation.
The chain may be adjusted by the take up bolts located on the left hand
conveyor chute.
Possible Difculties with the Conveyor
Chain slipping off of the sprockets:
The conveyor chain is too loose.
Attempting to pick up too much snow at one time. Overloading
the conveyor may cause it to jam or cause the chain to jump off the
sprockets.
Chain shakes a great deal:
Most often caused by a worn chain or sprockets.
A bent conveyor shaft will also cause conveyor shaking.
Remove the conveyor chain and inspect the four sprockets and shafts
that drive and guide the conveyor.
