Overview

This document is a user manual for a Zanussi cooker, specifically models ZCG63250BA, ZCG63250WA, and ZCG63250XA. It provides comprehensive instructions for installation, daily use, maintenance, and troubleshooting, ensuring safe and efficient operation of the appliance.

Function Description

The Zanussi cooker is a freestanding appliance designed for household cooking, featuring both a hob and two ovens (a top oven and a main oven). The hob is equipped with four gas burners of varying sizes: one rapid burner, two semi-rapid burners, and one auxiliary burner, each controlled by a dedicated knob. The hob also includes a lid safety device that cuts off the gas supply when the lid is closed.

The cooker has two gas ovens: a smaller top oven and a larger main oven. Both ovens offer conventional cooking heat settings and a grill function. The top oven is suitable for smaller quantities of food, fruitcakes, sweets, savoury flans, or quiche, while the main oven is designed for larger quantities. Each oven has multiple shelf positions to accommodate different cooking needs. The appliance includes a cooling fan that operates automatically to keep the oven surfaces cool during and after use.

Usage Features

Hob Operation: To ignite a hob burner, turn the corresponding knob to the ignition position and push it down. The spark generator will activate automatically. Hold the knob down for 10 seconds to allow the thermocouple to warm up and ensure gas supply. Once the flame is regular, adjust it to the desired intensity. If a burner does not light after 10 seconds, release the knob, turn it off, and try again after at least one minute. Always light the burner before placing cookware on it. Cookware should be stable, with a base diameter appropriate for the burner size, and placed centrally for maximum stability and lower gas consumption. Pot handles should not extend over the front edge of the cooktop.

Oven Operation: Before first use, the ovens should be preheated empty for a specified duration to eliminate any manufacturing odours. To ignite an oven burner, open the oven door, push and turn the relevant knob counterclockwise to the ignition position, and hold it for 15 seconds to warm up the thermocouple. After ignition, release the knob, close the door, and set the desired heat. The top oven cannot be operated when the grill is active. The oven functions include an "Off position," "Minimum temperature" setting, and various "Heat settings" for conventional cooking, as well as an "Ignition" setting to activate the oven. The grill function is used for grilling flat food and toasting bread, always with the oven door closed and at maximum temperature.

Accessories: The cooker comes with a wire shelf and a grill-/roasting pan. The wire shelf is for cookware, cake tins, and roasts. The grill-/roasting pan is used for baking, roasting, or collecting fat. A trivet is also provided for roasting and grilling, which should be used with the grill-/roasting pan. For roasting, the trivet can be placed with its supports pointing up for larger meat pieces, or pointing down for grilling flat dishes or toasting.

Clock Functions: The appliance features a minute minder and a time display. The time must be set before operating the oven. The minute minder can be set to count down a specified time, emitting an acoustic signal when finished.

Maintenance Features

General Cleaning: The appliance should be cleaned regularly to prevent deterioration of surface materials. After each use, the hob should be cleaned, and the oven cavity and door wiped dry to prevent corrosion from condensation. Use a moist soft cloth and neutral detergents for cleaning. Avoid abrasive products, sharp metal scrapers, or steam cleaners, especially on glass surfaces, as they can cause scratches or shattering. Stainless steel parts should be washed with water and dried with a soft cloth.

Hob Cleaning: Pan supports are not dishwasher-safe and must be washed by hand. They should be removed to clean the hob and carefully replaced to prevent damage. Spills, especially melted plastic, sugar, or food with sugar, should be removed immediately to prevent damage. Limescale, water rings, fat stains, and metallic discoloration should be cleaned when the hob is cool, using a moist cloth and a non-abrasive detergent. The ceramic ignition candle and metal electrode (spark plug) should be kept clean to ensure easy lighting, and burner crown holes should be unobstructed.

Oven Cleaning: The oven interior should be cleaned after each use to prevent fat accumulation and food remains, which can cause fire, especially for the grill pan. All accessories should be cleaned after use with warm water and a cleaning agent, then dried. Stubborn stains can be removed with a special oven cleaner, but it should not be applied to catalytic surfaces. For nonstick accessories, avoid aggressive agents, sharp objects, or dishwashers.

Catalytic Cleaning: The oven walls with a catalytic coating are self-cleaning, absorbing fat during operation. To support this process, the empty oven should be heated regularly. First, clean the oven floor with warm water and washing-up liquid. Then, set the oven to maximum temperature for one hour, followed by 250°C for another hour. Once cool, clean with a soft, moist sponge. All accessories must be removed before activating catalytic cleaning.

Removing Shelf Supports and Door Glasses: For thorough cleaning, the removable shelf supports can be pulled away from the side walls. The door glasses can also be removed for cleaning. For the top oven, hold the door trim at the top edge, push inwards to release the clip seal, and then pull the trim forward to remove it, followed by the glass panels. For the main oven, push the door trim at one side, pull it up, and then remove the glass panels. Reinstall in reverse order, ensuring correct placement of the trim parts.

Lamp Replacement: To replace the oven lamp, first turn off and disconnect the oven from the mains, and allow it to cool down. Place a cloth on the bottom of the cavity. Turn the lamp glass cover counterclockwise to remove it, clean the glass cover, and then replace the oven lamp with a suitable 300°C heat-resistant oven lamp of the same type. Finally, reinstall the glass cover.
