Fit andsoldercapacitor C5.
ThePCB allowsfor a radial or axial capacitor.In order to build a lowprofile board,
the capacitorshould lay onits side. An axial capacitorwould bemost secure inthis
configuration, but thereis limited length allocated and youprobablydon’t have one!
Youcan fit aradial capacitoron its side,butit is not as secure as an axial packageas
both leads come outof thesame end.
It
is
important
to
fit
this
capacitor
the
right
way
round.
The
PCB’s legendshowsa plus andminussign nexttothe round
outlineof a radial packagedcapacitor(bottomof imageto left).
It alsoshows thealternative pluspositionfor an axial capacitor
(top ofimage toleft). Inboth casesthe negative terminal is at
the bottom. The image tothe rightshows the typical marking
of
the negative terminalof the capacitor.
