1)
You may need to dismount the PCB from its housing to get at the jumper block J6 or connect the PCB 
direct to a programming PCB. 
2)
Record the current position of the jumper block J6 so you know what it was set to. 
3)
Remove jumpers 4 and 5. If you cannot access the jumpers or if you have firmware which does not 
support jumper initiated download then see section 10.4 below.  
 
 
4)
Connect the PCB to the PC serial port or USB port as appropriate along with a read head (prevent 
light entering read head). 
5)
Connect the power supply (if required) to the reader and turn on.  
6)
Open a DOS box on your computer and enter the following commands for use with the PC’s COM1 
serial port: 
 
cd \rt↵ 
 
rx↵ 
 
Alternatively use the 
rx2
 batch file if using the PC's COM2 port. For other port numbers including 
USB serial ports then start the downloader using  
 
rx -d nn↵ 
  where nn is the COM port number.  
 
For instance in the above example use  
rx -d 13↵
 
7)
After a few seconds a menu should appear.
