What to do if my A.O. Smith BTX 100 Water Heater control system is not working?

If your A.O. Smith Water Heater's control system isn't working, start by checking the on/off switch to ensure it's in the "on" position and working. If your model uses a standard appliance cord, make sure it's plugged into a 120 VAC outlet. Then, check the circuit breaker and fuses. If you're still having issues, verify there's 120 VAC at the wall outlet and that 120 VAC is supplied to CCB’s J3 Socket pins 1 & 3 (hot wire to pin 1, neutral wire to pin 3). If no 24 VAC is present, consider replacing the transformer. Inspect the communication ports on the CCB and UIM for any signs of damage. Finally, try replacing the UIM communication cable with a standard Cat 5 network cable.
