Section 1 Introduction
Overview
DeviceNet is a low-level network that connects simple industrial devices such as
sensors and actuators with high-level devices such as controllers. DeviceNet is
based on the Common Industrial Protocol (CIP). It shares all the common aspects of
CIP with adaptations to fit DeviceNet message frame size. Figure 1 shows an
example of typical DeviceNet network.
