External DC supply
ACSM1 drive modules can also be supplied from an external DC supply.
This can be the case,
• if the needed DC link power can not be handled with any available
ACSM1 drive module. In this case some other diode supply unit can
be used.
• if the regenerative power should be fed back to the AC supply. Then
it is possible to use ABB’s regenerative supply units (ISU).
There is no need for an external charging circuit with the external DC supply,
because the ACSM1 drive modules have internal charging circuits.
When some other type of supply unit than ACSM1 is used, its DC voltage
compatibility with the ACSM1 must be checked in addition to the earlier
described items (see paragraph ACSM1 DC voltage limits).
