HI appears on the display
The result is unusually high
You question the result
The blood ketone result is 0.0 mmol/L, but the blood glucose is higher than 300 mg/dL
Meter:
Display What It Means What To Do
Result is between:
0.6 – 1.5 mmol/L
and the blood
glucose result is:
> 300 mg/dL
High blood ketone
A problem requiring medical
assistance may be occurring
Contact the prescribing physician for sick-day
management instructions.
Result remains:
0.6 – 1.5 mmol/L
or becomes:
> 1.5 mmol/L
The patient may be at risk
of developing diabetic
ketoacidosis (DKA)
