Overview

The ADJ Par Z100 3K is an intelligent, zooming LED par fixture designed for various lighting applications, including theaters, studios, and retail stores. It operates as a standalone unit and can be controlled via DMX-512 protocol, offering flexibility in creating unique lighting programs. The fixture supports four DMX channel modes (1, 2, 3, and 4 channels), allowing for precise control over its functions.

Function Description:

The Par Z100 3K offers comprehensive control over its lighting output. Users can adjust the dimmer, fine dimmer, strobe, and select from six different dimmer curve modes: Standard, Stage 1, TV, Architectural, Theatre, and Stage 2. These dimmer curves provide varied fade times and ramp effects, allowing for smooth and tailored lighting transitions. The device also features gamma correction adjustment and dimming frequency adjustment, enabling further customization of the light output to suit specific environmental or artistic needs. For enhanced visual effects, especially in theatrical or event settings, the use of fog or special effects smoke is recommended to highlight the beam projections.

The fixture supports RDM (Remote Device Management) protocol, which allows for remote configuration and monitoring of the device. It includes 5-pin XLR input/output connections for DMX data and power input/output connections for power linking multiple units.

Usage Features:

The Par Z100 3K's system menu provides a user-friendly interface for setting up and configuring the device.

  • DMX Address Setting (Addr): Users can easily set the DMX address from 001 to 512, ensuring proper communication with a DMX controller.
  • DMX Channel Mode Selection (ChNd): The desired DMX channel mode (1, 2, 3, or 4 channels) can be selected through the menu, allowing users to choose the level of control needed for their setup.
  • DMX State (dNSt): This feature defines the device's behavior when DMX communication is lost or interrupted, or when power is applied. Options include "BLND" (Blackout), where the unit goes into standby mode, or "HOLD," where it maintains the last DMX setting.
  • Dimmer Curve Selection (dINd): Users can choose from the six available dimmer curves to achieve specific dimming characteristics.
  • Dimming Frequency Adjustment (FReq): The dimming frequency can be adjusted between 900Hz and 250000Hz, which is useful for preventing flicker in video recordings or specific lighting environments.
  • Gamma Correction Adjustment (gANN): This menu allows for fine-tuning of gamma corrections, further refining the light output.
  • Display Inversion (dISP): The display can be inverted 180 degrees for easier viewing depending on the mounting orientation.
  • Manual Mode (NAnd): In this mode, users can manually adjust brightness, fine dimming, and strobing directly from the unit's control panel. Fine dimming and strobing are specifically available in 3-channel mode.
  • Self-Test Program (teSt): A built-in self-test program helps in diagnosing potential issues.
  • Temperature Display (tENP): Users can check the current temperature of the fixture.
  • Fixture Hours Display (FhrS): This function shows the running time of the unit, which can be useful for maintenance tracking.
  • Software Version Display (ver): The current software version of the unit can be displayed.
  • Default Settings Reset (dFSE): The device can be reset to its factory default settings if needed.

The beam angle of the Par Z100 3K can be manually adjusted by sliding the beam angle adjuster located inside/in front of the lens. The adjustable beam angles include 9°, 15°, 20°, 25°, and 30°, providing versatility for different projection requirements.

For power linking, multiple Par Z100 3K units can be connected using the power input and output sockets. The maximum number of linkable fixtures is 15 at 120V and 25 at 230V. It is important to exercise caution when power linking different makes and models of lighting fixtures due to varying power consumption.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is crucial for optimizing light output and ensuring the longevity of the Par Z100 3K.

  • Cleaning: Due to the accumulation of fog residue, smoke, and dust, periodic cleaning of the internal and external optical lenses and mirror is recommended. The frequency of cleaning depends on the operating environment; for heavy club use, monthly cleaning is advised.
    • The outside casing can be wiped down with normal glass cleaner and a soft cloth.
    • Cooling vents and fan grill should be cleaned with a brush.
    • External optics should be cleaned with glass cleaner and a soft cloth every 20 days.
    • Internal optics should be cleaned with glass cleaner and a soft cloth every 30-60 days.
    • All parts must be completely dry before plugging the unit back in.
  • Fuse Replacement: In case of a blown fuse, the unit must be unplugged from the power source. A Phillips head screwdriver is used to unscrew the fuse holder located above the power input, allowing for the replacement of the fuse.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides basic troubleshooting steps for common issues, such as no light output, advising users to check the external fuse and ensure the fuse holder is properly seated.

The Par Z100 3K is designed for indoor use only, and operation outdoors voids all warranties. It is crucial to ensure proper ventilation, allowing at least 6 inches (15cm) of space between the device and any wall. The unit should always be mounted in a safe and stable manner, using a mounting clamp affixed to the provided bracket. A safety cable capable of holding at least 12 times the unit's weight should always be used. Installation should be performed by a professional and in a location out of reach of people. The housing can become extremely hot during operation, so direct contact with bare hands should be avoided.
