Overview

The ADJ VF Volcano is a commercial fog machine designed for reliable performance over many years, provided the guidelines in its user manual are followed. This device is engineered to produce fog effects and incorporates several features to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Function Description

The primary function of the VF Volcano is to generate fog. It utilizes a heating element to vaporize water-based fog juice, producing a visible fog output. A key feature of this device is its fluid level sensor. This sensor provides visual feedback to the user: a steady glow indicates sufficient fluid, while a flashing light signals a low fluid level. To protect the pump and extend its service life, a built-in sensor within the reservoir automatically shuts off the pump when the fluid level approaches empty. The heating element itself has been specially designed to prevent excessive particle buildup, a common cause of premature fogger failure. The device is intended for indoor use only, and outdoor operation will void all warranties.

Usage Features

Setting up the VF Volcano is straightforward. After unpacking, the unit should be placed on a flat, dry surface. It is crucial to fill the fluid reservoir exclusively with ADJ brand fog juice and then securely tighten the cap. The glowing red LED on the unit confirms that the reservoir has enough fog fluid; if this LED begins to flash, it indicates a low fluid level. Once plugged into a matching power supply, the fogger requires approximately six minutes to reach its normal operating temperature. A green LED on the rear of the unit will illuminate when it is ready to emit fog. Fog can then be emitted by either pressing the fog button on the rear of the unit or by using the included wireless remote control.

The wireless remote control offers enhanced operational flexibility, allowing users to control both fog output and integrated LEDs. The remote features eight distinct buttons, each with a specific function:

  • Button 1: Activates fog with red LEDs.
  • Button 2: Activates fog with green LEDs.
  • Button 3: Activates fog with blue LEDs.
  • Button 4: Activates fog with red, green, and blue LEDs.
  • Button 5: Activates fog with red and green LEDs.
  • Button 6: Activates fog with red and blue LEDs.
  • Button 7: Activates fog with green and blue LEDs.
  • Button 8: Activates fog with red, green, and blue LEDs, along with a strobing effect.

Users are cautioned to always maintain an adequate supply of ADJ Brand Fog Juice in the fluid reservoir. Running the fog machine dry can lead to pump failure or clogging, which is identified as the most common cause of failure in fog and haze machines. If the green LED is illuminated but no fog is emitted after holding the button for 30 seconds, the fluid tank should be checked for low fluid levels.

Maintenance Features

The VF Volcano is designed with user safety and longevity in mind, incorporating several maintenance and storage guidelines. For service, the unit should only be returned in its original packaging. It is essential to prevent exposure to rain or moisture and to avoid spilling water or other liquids into or onto the device, especially ensuring that fog fluid remains strictly within the reservoir and does not enter other internal components. The power outlet used must match the device's required voltage. Users are explicitly warned not to remove the cover, as there are no user-serviceable parts inside, and attempting repairs will void the manufacturer's warranty.

For extended periods of non-use, the unit should be disconnected from main power. It should never be connected to a dimmer pack or operated if damaged, with the cover removed, or if the power cord is frayed or broken. The ground prong of the electrical cord must not be removed or broken, as it is crucial for reducing the risk of electrical shock and fire. Before making any connections, the unit should be disconnected from main power. Proper ventilation is critical; the unit's ventilation holes must never be blocked, and it should always be mounted with at least 6 inches (15cm) clearance from any wall.

When storing the device, it should be kept in a cool area and covered to prevent dust buildup. For long-term storage, it is highly recommended to operate the device every 3-4 months to prevent a significant reduction in operational life. Only water-based fog juice should be used; plain water, vinegar, or any other liquid solution will cause severe damage.

Troubleshooting common issues like low or no fog output or pump noise involves disconnecting the device from power immediately. Users should check the fluid level, the external fuse or breaker, and the remote connection, and verify that the wall outlet is supplying power. If these checks do not resolve the issue, the unit may require service, and customer support should be contacted before returning the unit to a dealer.

Fuse replacement is a user-serviceable task. The unit must be disconnected from its power source, and the power cord removed. The fuse holder, located inside the power socket, can be gently pried out with a flat-head screwdriver. The bad fuse should be replaced with a new one. The fuse holder also includes a slot for a spare fuse.
