The ADTRAN Total Access 300 Series Single Family Unit (SFU) Optical Network Termination (ONT) is a key component of a Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON), designed to provide POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) and Ethernet interfaces, with some models also including an RF interface for TV distribution. This device facilitates the transmission of both downstream and upstream traffic over a single fiber using different wavelengths: 1490 nm for digital downstream traffic, 1310 nm for upstream traffic, and an additional 1550 nm for RF TV distribution.
The Total Access 300 Series ONTs are available in two main types: Outdoor ONTs, which are installed on the exterior of a customer's residence, and Indoor ONTs, designed for installation inside the customer's premises.
These models include:
Outdoor ONTs are typically housed in a Corning Network Interface Device (NID) housing and are designed for robust outdoor installation. They feature a hinged electronics module for easy access during installation and maintenance. Key connections include fiber optic cable, ground, power, Ethernet, POTS, and RF. Older models may require loosening a Telco Access screw to access the Power Connector.
These models include:
Indoor ONTs are designed to be mounted inside a customer's premises, often on a mounting board. They feature a more compact design with visible LEDs for status indication.
