DESCRIPTION
The Total Access® 372E Active Ethernet Small Business Unit Optical
Network Termination (372E SBU ONT) is an Active Ethernet Fiber-to-the-
Premises (FTTP) ONT built to address the needs of the small business. The
372E SBU ONT includes the following features:
Eight POTS ports
Four DS1 circuit emulated T1 interfaces (for PBX application)
Two 10/100/1000 Ethernet interfaces
The figure below illustrates the 372E SBU ONT inner enclosure.
NOTE
The Electronics Module Cover has been removed for clarity. This cover
swings to the left after the Telco Access screw is loosened.
Optical technology provides a consistent and common approach to
advancing the public communications network.
The optical network consists of an Optical Line Terminal (OLT) located at
the central office (CO) and Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) located at
the customer premises.
To allow for the transmission of downstream and upstream traffic on one
single fiber, different wavelengths are used for each direction.
Downstream traffic uses 1490 nm, while upstream traffic is carried on
1310 nm. The ONT employs optical diplexers to separate the
wavelengths.
