Fluorophos® ALP Test System Model FLM300 Service Manual
Symptom Possible cause Suggested action
6. No PMT response PMT socket connection to
circuit board
Check cable connection to the PCB Set and for wiring damage. Re-install connector,
or replace PMT socket assembly as required.
PMT supply voltage Check for +15 VDC on the PCB Set test point next to PMT socket header.
Shutter mechanism Check that solenoid pulls emission filter into place when starting A/D test. If it fails
to do so, check solenoid connection to the PCB Set and for wiring damage. Examine
shutter assembly and emission filter for cleanliness, and clean parts or replace as
necessary.
Circuit board logic
voltages
Check for +5 VDC on the PCB Set test point, located between the +12 VDC and +5
VDC indicator LEDs, and for +3.3 VDC on the PCB Set test point, located between
the incubator thermistor and optical bench headers.
If cause is not identified Contact Advanced Instruments.
7. Cuvette heater
won’t heat, or over
heats
Cuvette holder assembly
connection to circuit
board
Check cable connection to the PCB Set and for wiring damage. Re-install connector
on circuit board, or replace cuvette holder assembly as required.
Damage to cuvette
thermistor
Use ohmmeter to check thermistor for open or short; room temperture resistance
should be 5-15 kOhms. Replace cuvette holder assembly if thermistor is damaged.
Damage to cuvette
heating element
Use ohmmeter to check heater for open or short; resistance should be 70-90 Ohms.
Replace cuvette holder assembly if heater is damaged.
Cuvette heater supply
voltage
Check for +20 VDC on test point next to PCB Set header for cuvette assembly.
If cause is not identified Contact Advanced Instruments.
8. Incubator heater
won’t heat, or over
heats
Incubator connections to
circuit board
Check cable connections to the PCB Set and for wiring damage. Re-install
connectors to DC harness and to circuit board, or replace incubator assembly as
required.
Damage to incubator
thermistor
Use ohmmeter to check thermistor for open or short; room temperture resistance
should be 5-15 kOhms. Replace incubator assembly if thermistor is damaged.
Damage to incubator
heating element
Use ohmmeter to check heater for open or short; resistance should be 6 - 8 Ohms.
Replace incubator assembly if heater is damaged.
If cause is not identified Contact Advanced Instruments for assistance.
9. LED heater won’t
heat, or over heats
Cable connections to
circuit board
Check cable connections to the PCB Set and LED PCB, and for wiring damage.
Re-install connectors on circuit boards, or replace LED harness as required.
Damage to LED thermistor Use ohmmeter to check thermistor for open or short; room temperature resistance
should be 5-15 kOhms. Replace LED PCB if thermistor is damaged.
Damage to LED heating
element
Use ohmmeter to check heater for open or short; resistance should be 45 - 65
Ohms. Replace LED harness if heater is damaged.
If cause is not identified Contact Advanced Instruments Product Service for assistance.
10. Fan does not run Fan connection to circuit
board
Check cable connection to the PCB Set, and for wiring damage. Re-install connector
on circuit board, or replace LED assembly as required.
Damage to fan Replace fan assembly.
11. Incubator LEDs do
not light
LED connection to circuit
board
Check cable connection to the PCB Set, and for wiring damage. Re-install connector
on circuit board, or replace LED assembly as required.
Damage to LEDs Replace LED assembly.
