12. Printer does not
print, or prints wrong
characters
Printer module function Press switch S1 on printer interface board PCB402 while instrument power is turned
on. If test string prints, investigate connections from the PCB Set to circuit board
PCB402. If test string does not print, investigate printer module connections and
components.
Printer module
connections to PCB Set
Check the power and communication cable connections from the PCB Set to circuit
board PCB402. Also check all of these cables for damage to wires or loose/
displaced terminals in the connectors. Re-install connectors or replace cables as
required. Check for +12 VDC on connector P1 pin 3 (VIO) which plugs into PCB402.
Printer module cable
connections
Check the cable from PCB402 to printer module main control board, and the cable
and flex cable from the print head to the printer module main control board, for bad
connections, damage to wires or loose/displaced terminals in the connectors.
Re-install connectors, or replace cables or printer components as required.
Printer module DIP switch
settings
On printer module main control board, check that positions 1-2 and 4-8 are OFF,
and position 3 is ON.
Printer mechanism Check that printer door switch mechanism, gears and retaining tabs are not
damaged or broken o. Replace components as necessary.
If cause is not identified Contact Advanced Instruments Product Service for assistance.
13. Printer LEDs do
not light for paper
out (amber) or for
door open/printer
error (red)
LED connection to circuit
board
Check cable connection to printer interface board PCB402, and for wiring damage.
Re-install connector on circuit board, or replace LED assembly as required.
Damage to LEDs Replace LED assembly.
Paper sensor cleanliness Examine the paper sensor above the left rear mounting screw on the print head,
and clean if necessary.
Printer door sensor Examine that door sensor next to switch mechanism is working, replace print head
if necessary.
