5.2 Input Change State Level
The INLEVEL commands sets the active state of the input for triggering the auto-dialler.
For example, if the user requires triggering when the input is (going) closed (GND), then
the following message is sent by the master number:
INLEVEL CLOSED trigger when input A closed (GND/-VE)
or,
Inlevela negative trigger when input A closed (GND/-VE)
If the trigger is required when the input goes open the following message is sent:
INLEVELB OPEN trigger when input B open (+VE)
or,
Inlevelc positive trigger when input C open (+VE)
The input functions become inactive whilst the input remains in the active state (i.e. GND
for INLEVEL CLOSED/+V for INLEVEL OPEN) and remains inactive for 5 seconds after return-
ing to the idle state. INLEVEL BOTH allows triggering on either edge (no inactive state)
INLEVELD BOTH trigger input D on either edge
similarly;
INLEVELC C trigger when input C closed (GND)
INLD O trigger when input D open (+VE)
INL B trigger input A on either edge (BOTH)
By default changes will only be made to input A if not specified by the INLEVEL com-
mand.
When connecting the input to a volt free relay output the default settings (INLEVEL
CLOSED/NEGATIVE) are suitable for connection to NO/COM contacts. When connecting
to NC/COM (for example when connecting to a typical PIR detector) the input level
should be changed to:
Inlevelx open
This ensures the input triggers when the contact goes open-circuit.
When connecting to a typical open-collector burglar alarm output (eg. Bell outputs/
Strobe outputs/Set or unset outputs) then the default inlevel closed/negative settings
should be used. On some alarm panels the bell output is positive 12v when actuating the
alarm. In this case the inlevel positive/open command should be sent. A 1kohm resistor is
typically connected over the input to ground in this case to stop the alarm off voltage
‘floating’.
