Fig. 2.4 RaƟng plug
IMPROPER DISPOSAL
Ensure baƩery is properly disposed of according to all
applicable regulaƟons.
RaƟng Plug is plugged in to a jack on the trip. Unit Front Face. When
this device is not installed the Trip Unit will revert to it's minimum
seƫng, which has as value of 16-18% of the breaker raƟng In.
RaƟng plugs can be removed with a RaƟng Plug Extractor,
Catalogue No. FAR reference code 432861 . (Suitable equivalents
are commercially available as "integrated circuit (DIP) extractors".
Grasp the raƟng plug tabs with the extractor and pull the plug out.
Be sure to grab the tabs and not the front cover of the raƟng plug,
or the plug may be damaged.
GENERAL BATTERY INFORMATION
The trip unit has a front panel mounted baƩery. When the baƩery
is present, the user can view data on the LCD and read or program
the trip unit via the keypads. The baƩery allows the user to display
data, change set points and provide thermal memory.
The baƩery does not allow normal trip unit operaƟon; i.e. over
current protecƟon, alarms, relays, etc., are not funcƟonal when the
trip unit is powered from the baƩery. The trip unit will
automaƟcally shut oī aŌer 20 sec when baƩery powered, this to
maximize baƩery life.
A small amount of power is necessary to energize the liquid crystal
display (LCD) during setup, for viewing breaker status and for
metering displays. The power sources can be one of the following:
-- Current Ňow: Breaker current sensors provide suĸcient power to
energize the LCD when at least 20% of the sensor's ampere raƟng is
Ňowing.
-- +24 VDC control power
-- Internal baƩery power: Powers the unit temporarily when any
keypad key is pressed. BaƩery power automaƟcally turns oī 20 sec
aŌer the last keypad press. The baƩery power supply is disabled
when any current is sensed through the current sensors.
- Test kit Catalogue No. GTUTK20 reference code 407999 has a extra
internal baƩery that can be used to power the trip unit when
internal baƩery power is not present. The device also has a built in
24 VDC control power supply that can be powered up through a
standard mains
connecƟon.
The Mpro Trip Units require external +24 VDC control power for
communicaƟon.
