8.1 Introduction
This section contains factory recommended procedures for proper ground handling
and servicing of the aeroplane. It also identifies certain inspection and maintenance
requirements which must be followed if the aeroplane is to retain that new-plane
performance and dependability. It is wise to follow a planned schedule of lubrication
and preventive maintenance based on climatic and flying conditions encountered.
The airframe surfaces should be protected with light plastic foil or cloth cover
against dust. All engine intakes, vents, the fuel vents and pitot static system should
be covered before long term aeroplane parking or storing, due to contamination by
foreign objects (insects, birds).
The external surfaces of the aeroplane should be washed with a sufficient quantity of
the water and an adequate quantity of detergent. Do not apply petrol or chemical
solvents for cleaning the external surfaces of the aeroplane.
It is advisable to park the aeroplane inside a hangar or eventually inside other
weather-proof space with stable temperature, good ventilation, low humidity and
dust-free environment. The parking place should be protected against possible
damage caused by sun radiation, humidity and wind. Sunbeams reflected through the
canopy can magnified and may cause spot heating, which can create damage to the
cockpit area and the upholstery.
