magnetized. The
effect
of
slight
head magnetiza,
l ion is
that

partially
erases
the
tape, especially
at
hi
gh
frequenci
es.
Gen
-
erally,
this
condi
tion
can
be
detected by
the
loss
of
hi
gh
frequency ·response
which
cannot
be corrected
throu
gh head
alignment
. Severe magnetization
(which may be caused by usi
ng
magnetized
tools
In
the
vi
cinity
of
the
heads)
will
resu
lt
In noi
se
or consi
de
rab
le
disto
rt
ion
in
addit
ion
to
the
loss
of
high
frequency response. Although Model X·
200D
already has a
built
-in Head
Oe
magnetizing Ci
rcuit,
it
is recommended
that
head
demagnet
ization be perform-
ed periodically. This can be accomplished by t
ouching
the
head
lightly
with
the demagnetizer and making several small circular
mo
tions over all head
surface areas as well as
the
head housing.
Noto: To avoid s
cratching
t
he
head surface, we
suggest
that
you cover
bot
h
prongs
of
the
head demagnetlzer
with
a sort of
masking
tape,
