1.2.2 Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise alarm server: OpenTouch Notification Service
The ALE OpenTouch Notification Service (OTNS) offers a native and optimized integration with
the ALE Call Servers and all ALE wired and wireless sets, including DECT handsets with lone
worker protection function.
Following is an example of such an architecture using the OpenTouch Notification Service.
The OTNS server interacts with the call server with signaling links and Voice links over an IP
connection. It is able to make or receive call to any fixed or wireless sets attached to the call
server.
• The OTNS server can receive or send alarms using the ALE ABC-F Protocol on IP with the
OmniPCX Enterprise, offering unique features such as long text messages of 40 characters
instead of 16 to convey richer alarm information, priority call feature or loudspeaker
announcement
• The OTNS server can also receive or send alarms from/to an OmniPCX Office RCE over a SIP
trunk, and also supports all ALE sets.
• OTNS interconnects with multiple alarm and notification subsystems thanks to its
compatibility with numerous industry standards, protocols and interfaces (ESPA/TAP, dry
contacts i.e. electric relays, DTMF, email, SMS, SNMP, KNX, social media, …)
• It also offers a set of applications to monitor alarms in real time (Real-Time Console), to
locate the origin of an alarm on a map (Graphical Floor Plan) and to generate reports
(Historical reporting) , all well fitting for the management of features such as isolated
worker protection.
• In addition to the support of wireless sets, OTNS offers several mobile applications for
smartphones and tablets over Wi-Fi and 3G/4G, allowing to generate alarms, receive
notifications as well as monitor alarms and manage their urgency.
