HP 5 OPERATOR’S MANUAL
12) Electronic Accessory:
This switch controls any electronic accessory options. These options may be specific to your
combine. Be sure to understand these functions before operating. See SECTION I OPTIONS for
additional information on available options.
13) Cyclone Dump:
Manually operates the cyclone knife valve at the bottom of the cyclone.
14) Forward / Reverse Control:
This lever controls the hydraulic fluid flow to the drive wheels. Push forward to drive the machine
forward, pull back to drive the machine in reverse. Move the lever slowly and steadily to avoid
machine bucking and jerking. Center the handle to return to neutral. If the engine will not turn
over, be sure the lever is in neutral (centered) position. The neutral safety switch will disable the
ignition switch until the hand control lever is returned to neutral.
NOTICE: Due to the small, narrow configuration of this machine extreme care should be taken to
avoid a tip over. Slow the combine down when traveling over rough ground. High speed in these
conditions can cause damage and unnecessary wear on various parts.
15) Clutch Switch:
Engages the combine internals, threshing cylinder, head, and cyclone blower. Engage clutch at
idle engine RPM only higher speeds can damage clutch. Clutch must be disengaged before
starting.
16) Throttle Lever:
Push lever forward to increase engine RPM, pull back to decrease engine rpm. Run engine at
maximum RPM while operating. Do not drive machine at idle, reduced charge pressure will
damage brakes. Maximum engine RPM is set at the factory and should not be modified.
17) Threshing Cylinder (optional):
An optional threshing cylinder tachometer monitors threshing cylinder RPM. Consult Cylinder /
Concave Settings Chart to determine an initial cylinder speed.
ENGINE STARTING PROCEDURE
WARNING!
Do not start engine in enclosed unventilated area. Fumes could cause operator
illness or death.
WARNING!
Make sure all people are in a safe position before starting, especially in machines
equipped with cabs. Moving components can cause serious injury or death.
1. Set the engine speed control level (throttle) to idle position.
2. Make sure the forward / reverse lever is in neutral. Make sure the clutch switch is in the off
position.
3. Make sure brake switch is on.
4. Make sure clutch switch is off.
5. Insert key, rotate key clockwise to the start position and hold, until engine starts.
