The EdiOven is a device designed for decarboxylation and infusion of plant materials and concentrates, enabling users to create edibles and other infused products conveniently at home. It features a digital control panel for precise temperature and time settings, ensuring optimal activation of herbs and efficient infusion.
Function Description:
The EdiOven performs two primary functions: decarboxylation and infusion.
- Decarboxylation: This process activates dry plant material (flower, trim, shake, stems) and sticky concentrates (Kief, Rosin, BHO, Resin, Wax, Shatter) by heating them to specific temperatures for a set duration. This step is crucial for activating the material for ingestion.
- Infusion: After decarboxylation, the EdiOven infuses the activated material into various bases such as butter, oil (coconut, avocado, MCT), alcohol (tincture), propylene glycol (PG), honey, and sugar. This allows for the creation of a wide range of infused products for culinary or other uses.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Power: Operates on 120V/60Hz. For use in countries with higher voltage, a step-down transformer is required to convert local voltage to 120V/60Hz.
- Decarb Capacity: Up to 1 oz (28 grams) of dry plant material or up to 2 oz of concentrate at a time.
- Infusion Capacity: Maximum of about 1 cup (240mL) of base material.
- Temperature Range: Customizable, with preset settings for decarboxylation at 240°F and infusion temperatures ranging from 110°F to 150°F depending on the base.
- Time Range: Customizable, with preset settings for decarboxylation (e.g., 1:10 for flower/kief, 0:45 for concentrate/wax) and infusion (e.g., 2 hours for butter/coconut oil, 3 hours for tinctures/PG, 8-12 hours for slow & low infusions).
- Thermostat: Auto-regulating for consistent temperature control.
Usage Features:
- Digital Control Panel: Includes buttons for increasing/decreasing temperature or time, selecting temperature, selecting time, and a start/pause/stop button. An indicator light shows the device's status (green for ready, red for cycle started, circular green motion for cool down).
- Customizable Settings: Users can adjust time and temperature to their liking by pressing the respective buttons and using the up/down arrows.
- Safety Cool Down Cycle: After a cycle is complete, the device enters a cool-down mode.
- Automatic Shut-off and Overheat Protection: Enhances safety during operation.
- Components:
- Outer Lid: Locks with a slight twist.
- Silicon Lid: Placed firmly on the cup to push out excess air and minimize smell.
- Strainer: Used for straining infusions.
- Silicon Cup/Sleeve: For decarbing waxes or infusing. Always use for anything other than dry plant material.
- Metal Cup: For decarbing dry plant material. Always use with the heating chamber.
- Heating Chamber: The main compartment where the metal cup is placed. Material should never be placed directly into the chamber.
- Glass Stir Rod: Supplied for stirring concentrates during decarb and infusions.
- Filter Basket and Plunger: Used for straining infused material and squeezing out remaining liquid.
Decarboxylation Process:
- Power On: Plug into a 120V/60Hz outlet. The green LED indicates readiness.
- Set Time & Temp: Preset is 240°F for 1:10 (70 minutes). Customize if needed (e.g., 240°F for 0:45 for concentrates). Note: Adjustments are not allowed once the cycle starts.
- Load: Place dry plant material (up to 1 oz) in the metal cup. For concentrates, insert the silicone sleeve into the metal cup and place concentrate inside.
- Add Lids: Firmly press down the silicon lid to push out air, then secure the outer lid with a clockwise twist.
- Start Cycle: Press the Start/Pause/Stop button. The LED turns red.
- Mid-Cycle Stir (for concentrates): Halfway through, press Start/Pause, remove lids, and stir vigorously with the glass rod for 60 seconds (or until bubbles stop forming). Replace lids and un-pause.
- Cycle Complete: LED changes to a circular green motion, then stops, and the device beeps.
- Wait for Cooldown: Wait 15 minutes for the metal cup to cool before removing.
Infusion Process (General Steps):
- Decarb Material: Decarb plant material (up to 1 oz) in the metal cup. Remove material after cooling.
- Insert Silicone Sleeve & Filter Basket: Place these inside the metal cup, then return the decarbed plant material.
- Add Base: Cover the material with melted butter/oil or room temperature alcohol/PG (up to 1 cup). Add lecithin for butter/oil infusions (1/2 tsp for 1/2 cup base).
- Set EdiOven: Manually set temperature and time according to the infusion chart (e.g., 130°F for 2 hours for butter). Set a reminder for halfway through.
- Mid-Cycle Stir: Halfway through, press Start/Pause, remove lids, stir vigorously for 60 seconds with the glass rod. Replace lids and un-pause.
- Cycle Finished: Stir contents again for 60 seconds.
- Remove Infusion: Slowly remove the filter basket. Use the plunger to squeeze out remaining infused liquid.
- Cool: Once cooled, the infused base is ready.
Specific Infusion Notes:
- Butter/Oil: Melt butter/coconut oil first. Lecithin is recommended for even active ingredient distribution. Avoid soybean, canola, corn, or extra virgin olive oil due to poor performance; cold-pressed coconut oil is recommended.
- Tincture (Alcohol): Use 190 proof grain alcohol (vodka) for best results; 151 proof will work. Store in a cool, dark place. For stronger tinctures, allow some alcohol to evaporate.
- Vape Juice (PG): Use Propylene Glycol (PG) for best results; it performs better than Vegetable Glycerin (VG).
- Slow & Low Infusion: Steeps butter, oil, or PG for 8-12 hours at 110°F to preserve terpenes and maximize infusion. Not recommended with alcohol.
Maintenance Features:
- EdiOven Machine: Do not submerge the cord or machine in water. Unplug before cleaning. Wait for all parts to fully cool.
- Accessories (Lids, Strainer, Cups): Clean with warm soapy water or in the dishwasher. For sticky residue, use 70% or higher Isopropyl (Rubbing) Alcohol and a clean cloth.
- Dry Parts: All parts, including the metal canister and silicon sleeve, should be dry when inserted.
Safety Precautions:
- Always follow standard electrical appliance safety precautions.
- Use only for its intended purpose.
- Read all instructions before operating.
- Close supervision is needed when children are nearby.
- Unplug when not in use or before cleaning.
- Keep the power cable away from hot surfaces.
- If anything unusual happens, unplug the power supply. Do not use if any part is broken, chipped, loose, or cracked; contact support for replacement.
- Use in a well-ventilated area, indoors, on a flat surface.
- Do not place on or near hot burners or in a heated oven.
- Always use the silicone sleeve inside the metal cup for anything other than dry plant material.
- Machine and contents will be HOT during and after use; use a silicone glove or oven mitt.
