iPod ™ (Optional)
An iPod™ or iPod™ mini can be controlled from the DVA-9860,
when connected to an optional Alpine Interface Adapter for iPod™
(KCA-420i). While connectd to the DVA-9860 through the KCA-
420i, the controls on the iPod
TM
are disabled.
•For details, refer to the Owner’s Manual of the connected adapter
(KCA-420i).
•For each function, refer to the iPod’s documentation.
Playback
1
Press SOURCE/POWER to switch to the iPod
mode.

Press g or f to select the desired song.
Return to the beginning of the current song:
Press g.
Fast backward:
Press and hold g.
Advance to the beginning of the next song:
Press f.
Fast forward:
Press and hold f.

To pause playback, press :/J.
Pressing :/J again will resume playback.
If a song is playing on the iPod when it is connected to the DVA-
9860, it will continue playing after the connection.
If using the iPod with a changer, the Versatile Link Terminal (KCA-
410C) must be used. In this case, press BAND to select the
changer mode applicable to the iPod.

Searching for a desired Song
An iPod can contain hundreds of songs. By keeping these songs
organized in playlists, the DVA-9860 can use these to ease song
searches.
Searching by Playlist

Press SEARCH/Q.S. to select a PLAYLIST
search mode.
Each press changes the search mode.
The search mode is automatically changed to the
PLAYLIST search mode 4 seconds after PLAYLIST has
been selected.

Turn the Rotary encoder within 10 seconds, and
select a playlist.

Press the Rotary encoder to play back a
selected playlist.
To search for a song in the selected playlist
1 After selecting the playlist in step 2

, press SEARCH/
Q.S to change to the song search mode of the
selected playlist.
2 Turn the Rotary encoder within 10 seconds to select a
song and press the Rotary encoder.
The selected song is played back.
•Press and hold SEARCH/Q.S. for at least 2 seconds in the
search mode to cancel the search mode.
All songs in the iPod are played back by selecting the stored “iPod
name” in step 2

Playlist search cannot be made during M.I.X. play.
Searching by artist name

Press SEARCH/Q.S. to select an ARTIST search
mode.
Each press changes the search mode.
The search mode is automatically changed to the ARTIST
search mode 4 seconds after ARTIST has been selected.
