5. Open Putty and click the Serial option in the Category tree.
6. Set the COM port to the COM port listed in Device Manager.
7. Set the Speed (baud) to 38400, the Data Bits to 8, the Stop bits to 1, the
parity to None, and the Flow control to None.
8. Press Open to start the session.
9. Power OFF the Paystation.
10. Remove the current iCore SD and insert the upgrade SD card into the SD
bay of the iCore board.
11. Change dip switches 6, 7, and 8 to ON (down; away from number label).
12. Power ON the Paystation and press any key in the laptop Putty session to
stop the auto boot process. The Paystation allows input for four seconds until
it attempts to boot normally.
13. Once the auto boot is stopped, enter update wce hsmmc into the Putty
session and press Enter. A loading screen will display.
14. After the update process has finished, enter erase_pt Filesys and press
Enter.
15. After the erase process has finished, enter dboot wce flash cleanhive into
the putty session and press Enter. The device will reboot and start to
Windows CE (with dip switches 6, 7, and 8 still ON).
16. Check the version of the IMAGE using Version Display. See section 3.0
Verifying Versions if you do not know verify the version of the Windows CE
image. The new image version is displayed.
4.2 Updating the SmartCash/CLM Firmware
The SmartCash/CLM firmware controls many Paystation hardware
operations. Up to date SmartCash firmware optimizes Paystation speed and
maximizes hardware efficiency.
Note: This procedure requires Windows CE Image 29 or above be
installed.
1. Power OFF the Paystation.
2. Remove the SD card from the iCore board and insert it into the laptop SD
port.
3. Copy the SmartCash files onto the root of the SD Card. Do NOT delete any
files.
4. Remove the SD card from the laptop and insert it into the iCore SD port.
5. Plug a Keyboard-Mouse combination into the iCore USB port.
6. Verify dip switches 6-8 are ON (down)
7. Power ON the device. The Paystation will boot to Windows CE.
8. Once Windows CE has loaded, click the Start icon in the lower-left corner and
browse to Programs. Click Windows Explorer once Programs has
expanded.
9. Navigate to the SD card and double click CLMUpdate.exe located on the
root of the SD card.
10. Click Browse
11. Browse to the ATD_(version number)_SmartCash file located on the root of
the SD card. Select the ATD file.
